420 Day: Toronto tokes up, talks Trudeau (with bonus report from Parliament Hill)

Rebel Staff

It's April 20th and that can only mean one thing. David Menzies braves the smoke to visit the pot smokers at Toronto's Yonge & Dundas Square on "420 Day."

The Menzoid asked the assembled cannabis fans about Justin Trudeau's legalization stance, but predictably, conversation soon turned to more pressing matters, such as the legalization of carrots.

Clips from classic "stoner comedies" like Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle round out this first-hand report on "reefer gladness."

Meanwhile, in the nation's capital:

What started off as a rainy, pot-free day turned into a pass-puff-pass-filled affair by the time the appointed hour, 4:20pm, rolled around. (LANGUAGE WARNING:)

So very different from London Ontario’s 420 experience. One man with an expired license lights up and they cart him off to jail.

Their parents must be so proud.

When I see who’s against Harper on the left and I consider the alternatives to Harper for PM, it makes me a bit remorseful that I’m so hard on Harper from the right. If only he was a real conservative, life would be so much easier for conservatives who want a real one for PM but who also don’t ever want JT or his alter-ego Mulcair in the driver’s seat in Ottawa. Sigh.

Poison Ivy and Hemlock are plants as well. Would you like some skin lotion and tea with your joint?
Extensive and extended pot use causes numerous psychoses on developing brains, as with addiction to any substance, the maturity level of the user flat lines at the time of addiction, and any type of smoke going into your respiratory system is harmful regardless of how natural or beneficial it is.

That is a lot of bleary eyes. I have been on the fence about this topic for a long time, but as time passes more understanding occurs. If used chronically from a young age, it will stunt emotional growth. I read somewhere(i will let you do your own research) that people with a particular gene are far more prone to emotional/mental problems than others who smoke weed. So some are fine and some get damaged. I have observed this also. I don’t want kids to have any easier access,(no thanks Justin) and if it is legalized it should be regulated like booz. I do however believe in legal use of weed for medicinal purposes. The THC is what makes you stoned and stupid, THC is not necessary in most? all? medicinal applications. There are many important properties and usages for that herb, and none of them involve smoking reefer, or reducing your mental capacity.

To smoke or not to smoke, that is not the question. If you have personal sovereignty you make your own choice of what goes into your body or not. If you live in a Democracy you have personal sovereignty…right?
To legalize or decriminalize marijuana, is more to the point – BECAUSE – by restricting it through law enforcement, organized criminal elements profit, hugely, and are then able to easily corrupt police, politicians and society. This is dumb! Given how benign it is in comparison to alcohol, tobacco and pharmaceuticals, which are ‘legal’, regulated and taxed, this doesn’t make a lot of sense. The biggest opposition to the repeal of Prohibition, or the 21st Amendment in the US, were the organized criminal gangs that profited so vastly and increased their numbers and power. The next biggest opposition to the repeal of Prohibition were the law enforcement agencies that profited and so vastly increased their numbers and power!
It’s a plant…
That dark skinned/haired angry ‘female’ with the hateful-Harper shirt and occult symbols-a-flashing, was an excellent way to put people off dope smokers and their cause!

It is a shame.

The pro-dope dopes in the video and their supporters (some of them in this comment section) get to vote too. This is why we’re doomed.

As a card carrying conservative, and a libertarian, it’s time the conservative party drop this war on drugs. Pot is no more harmful and arguably safer than alcohol.

nice report…it had a lot of high points in it…

Julie and Steve, regardless of her ethnicity, the “Fuck Harper” babe could well be second- or third-generation Canadian, the daughter of well-heeled Crown lawyers.

My concern for her is that all sorts of stoned dudes named Harper take her -ha! – at her word.

I don’t agree with government interference in our private lives. At least decriminilization and an end to the wasteful prosecution of users should be the standard. As a libertarian I feel these resources could be better allocated. I love Menzies but as always happens the average pot user is depicted as these witless few because they are the ones who show up just like the LBGT community is always portrayed as those flamboyant speedo wearing gay priders. Lets have a real discussion with rational thinkers about this issue. I do think we should protect minors from predatory traffickers but an adult should be free to choose for themselves.

Judging by these bunch of dopers, Canada is in bigger trouble than thought. Anyone supporting legalizing MJ, should look at all the studies conducted since the 1800’s worldwide and see the commonalities they all share. Long term MJ use is extremely detrimental to one’s brain function as well as other organs.

The reason they call it “dope”, is because it makes you one. Permanently.

This video could have been a little more balanced, taking a look into marijuana prohibition, benefits, drawbacks, etc. I want those 4 minutes back!
The Rebel is turning into CBC – next up – DUMBO the dog plays fetch. Step it up. Your viewers demand better

Steve Wick: Its the 21st century bud, your comment is racist, and frankly just plain stupid. The girl was likely born in Canada, and if not, who cares what her shirt says, its free speech. You gotta grow up bud
commented 2015-04-21 10:53:12 -0400
Umm, I don’t think that girl is necessarily Indian, she could be of a spanish decent…just sayin
commented 2015-04-21 10:50:35 -0400
Shame on The Rebel, There were many informed and intelligent people at that event you could have interviewed and instead you went with a propaganda hit piece. Menzies is a clown and the only person to bring up Trudeau? No I did not like this post and will not be sharing it and a warning to Ezra here. Do some honest and balanced reporting or go down with the main stream corporate media who’s days are numbered.

Immigration should send her back to wherever and then she can see first had how other countries deal with rude and flippant females! Again, It is called DOPE for a reason.. this female personifies the stupidity! Where are her parents?

They call it dope for a reason.
