"Backdoor gun registry": MP Bob Zimmer takes aim at UN firearms treaty

Rebel Staff

Canada is under international pressure to sign on to a United Nations arms control treaty but a Conservative MP is pushing back.

MP Bob Zimmer has put a motion before the House of Commons asking MPs to affirm that Canada already does more than enough on gun control and doesn't need what could be a back door gun registry.

Zimmer notes that along with burdening law abiding gun owners with additional red tape, the treaty's markings provisions might add an estimated $200 to the price of each firearm purchased in Canada.

I just sent this email to my MP:

“Dick Harris, MP
Dear sir:
I’m writing to inquire how you – my MP and representative in Ottawa – will be responding to Bob Zimmer’s Motion 589, before the House of Commons, to reject the UN’s push into our sovereignty as a nation with their so-called ‘arms control treaty. See for reference:
Being a law abiding, responsible firearms owner, I object most strenuously to a corrupt supporter of terrorists and dictators like the UN and the un-elected ’delegates’ who people this NGO, having any say on my ownership of guns and how I use them in Canada!
A Conservative voter and constituent,
Dan Mancuso”

Don’t these anti gun people realize that the more they bleat (try to take away liberty) the more guns get sold? They just don’t get it, do they? They are the force that drives gun ownership. I bet there are lots of people who would never buy guns, except that these people are telling them they shouldn’t…so they go out, get tested and buy guns…just to protect their rights. It’s human nature to want liberty and to resist oppression.

The UN who have a strong Muslim/Islamic, despot dictators and such on the UN human rights committee. This same UN who will forever declare that Israel is a abusive state. Now wants to control the world with a one world Gov. I thought we were getting to this by the rise of Islam throughout the world today. Stupid white trash Liberals are helping this come along in Canada, USA, and Europe via the don’t want to offend the Muslim communities; we need to be inclusive and tolerant, these Liberals declare. While all the while turning a blind eye to what is really going on over here and in the Muslim countries were I don’t see any peace or good Gov; at all. So why would we allow this shit pit of an organization called the UN to control and dictate who owns guns in Canada? Obama and Trudeau must be rubbing their hands in glee over this.

Mike, I don’t disagree with anything you said. I was merely articulating the reason WHY I don’t believe Canada will ever walk away from the UN, I wasn’t excusing it. To sever ties with the UN would take a degree of courage and moral integrity that I haven’t seen in any politician since Abraham Lincoln. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am. In other words, I’m not feeling very optimistic.

MAURICE POTVIN You have raised an opinion about political suicide decision on leaving the UN. I don’t doubt it but I also am not sure that would be the death sentence you claim either. If it is that would be a shame to knock someone down for his belief. I have made mistakes and I’m still standing. Someone in politics made a big mistake changing sides and we are seeing the ramification of that as a blunder she made as her political future is in limbo.
At one time in your life you had to make a choice and you made it, we all have. Living with consequences is a thing we all have to make. For her it is still up in the air. For me I think the UN has had its day and go out on a limb to say end it. The same people will just meet up somewhere else but at least not under any GOVT sanctions. Crooks, thieves, murders should never have GOVT sanctions. ISIS/ISIS is now a world wide threat to any one muslim or not. It is the ultimate dictatorship.
I can’t be the only one seeing that. Convert or die.

It will be of great interest to see how Obama handles this issue. But, then again, he probably will use an executive order or a veto to sign the USA onto this resolution. After all, his objective is to replace Ban Ki-Moon as its secretary-general in 2017! Name change? Ban Ye-Gun (Goon)!

Good job, Mr. Zimmer. More MP’s need to get educated about the facts and speak up. This “treaty” is not about guns or safety, it is about One World Government control.

The UN is totally out of touch with the free world. Too many Socialists/ Communists and Islamists. They want to make the whole world into third world countries. As far as I’m concerned they serve no democratic purpose and is just a money drain. Disband it!

omgosh, my next MP…still want that edit button please!

Thank you,Bob Zimmer for standing up for LAWFUL gun owners!its time to kick the UN to the curb and ignore them.

Absolutely agree, True North, but like said, political suicide.

Like socialists everywhere, those at the U.N. will try anything to increase their jurisdiction over everyone everywhere. Canada should lead the way for all western nations and walk out of this collection of anti-Semitic, anti-west, anti-freedom of speech, anti-free market, international Nazis NOW!

Them there college edgebekated fellers like Tom Mulchair and Alan Rock is been trying to outsmart us simple hill folk.

Just like all other gun control by bureaucracy measures this is unenforcible where it might actually be effective….other than as a prelude to mass confiscation of guns.

The quality and integrity of any organization is entirely dependent upon the quality and integrity of its members. The UN is moribund, way past its “best before” date… if it ever had a “best before” date. How can any organization be an agent for peace and fairness in the world, as long as that organization is dominated by the world’s most evil totalitarian dictators and despots? This isn’t rocket science, people. This is a no-brainer! The only reason for Canada to remain in the UN is to have our voice heard on the world stage… and then promptly ignored! Is it worth it, particularly with the blatant hypocrisy of constant censures against Canada for human rights violations (what a joke)? No, it isn’t worth it! We should have washed our hands of that corrupt organization years ago. But the real reason we don’t divest ourselves of involvement in the UN, is that it would be political suicide. There would arise such a hue and cry from the lefties that their words of outrage would be reverberating off the walls of parliament for centuries to come. The trouble is, most Canadians, even the ones who recognize the double standard, still think we should remain in the UN. They’re wrong, but that’s what most Canadians believe. Like I said… political suicide.

I do not trust the UN. Its 57 OIC states to our 24 NATO states at the UN creates tremendous bias against Israel and other world democracies in favour of pro-caliphate Islamic states. The only reason Canada should keep membership in the UN is to keep our enemiesclose and spy on them. Of course they want our guns! They are an enemy.

This is what separates sincere politicians from those under the NDP/Liberal banner.

The UN (bureaucracy) mainly consists of the bribe taking relatives of third world despots plus first world leftist malcontents shunted there to get them out of their home government’s hair. The only folks gullible enough to miss how it really operates are educated/indoctrinated fools in certain countries still with English speaking majorities.
commented 2015-03-28 15:33:02 -0400
If the UN makes an “laws”, I will not obey them. Canadians didn’t vote for one person in that corrupt organization and it therefore has no jurisdiction over us or anyone else in the world. I won’t be paying the UN any money for my guns either. They can suck rocks on this and everything else.

“… communist one world government.”

It makes me shutter to read those words. May that never come to pass.
commented 2015-03-28 15:19:28 -0400
Just another attempt by the UN to become a communist one world government.

If the antis can’t get us through registration, they’ll try to red tape us into submission through the back door of the UN.

@ Peter – I agree. But I was in the middle of writing my comment when he posted, lol.

@ Greg – Yes, that tactic works, but the Conservatives cannot do that because it smacks of dishonesty. Do we really want the Conservatives to become like the Liberals?

@ Guy – Couldn’t agree more. We need to get out of that den of dictators and despots. Brian Lilley would certainly agree. He has been calling for that for years now.

@ Jason – Referring back to Guy’s comment about the company kept in the UN and the uncanny parallel of the opinions of the left wing in Canada and the UN, one cannot help but draw a parallel. The main reason the left should never take office in Ottawa.

Typical UN brainstorming (or lack thereof). When are they going to get it into their heads, that criminals don’t tend to obey the law..? Do they honestly think the black market is worried about serial numbers and the long gun registry? Is ISIL going to stop obtaining guns because of the UN? (Especially when some suspect them of arming some of ISIL in the first place)? This is another good reason to withdraw our membership from the UN. United Nations? More like Universal Nitwits.
commented 2015-03-28 14:10:12 -0400
Why are we still dealing with that corrupt and heinous organization. The UN is a cabal of dictators and despots and committees are run by the worst offenders. Canada should leave the UN, we don’t have any power to change it to become good so we should abandon the malevolent organization.
commented 2015-03-28 14:07:47 -0400
Simple. Do what Chretien did. Sign the international treaty to shut the lefties up at home then do absolutely NOTHING domestically to follow the treaty. If anyone actually notices stall & stonewall by saying the problem is “complex” and “needs more study” appoint commissioners and organize “think tanks”.
Talk is cheap so use only that.
The left have used these tools successfully so can conservatives.
