"Government comedian" Jon Stewart's secret White House briefings show he was a fraud all along

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

I've never been a fan of Jon Stewart, the host of the fake news program The Daily Show on Comedy Central.

Stewart was just too predictably liberal, and really not that funny. His program was basically a laugh track for the Obama administration.

The president was Stewart's TV guest seven times, but did you know Stewart was a private guest to the White House?

He got briefings and talking points. He was part of the administration's spin.

This is only coming out now, of course, because Stewart is retiring.

Jon Stewart and his fans kid themselves that the Daily Show was "satire," a brave TV program that was "speaking truth to power."

But Jon Stewart was nothing more than Obama's house pet, a government comedian. What a fraud.

The “Daily Show” is not/was not satire; nor was it a “fake news” show. It was a propaganda machine that claimed to be or was disguised as “satirical fake news”. There was never any “fake” news. There was ridicule, sarcasm and the clever manipulation of real issues calculated to cloud the truth in favour of a leftist-socialist ideology.

Why should some dipshit conservative opinion site be deemed the public broadcaster for Canada and get funding that Stephen Harper approves?

The Rebel isn’t news – it’s opinion. Even if CBC has a liberal slant, they are still an actual news operation. I don’t see news stories of the day covered here – just a right wing agenda and plenty of witch hunts.

Having said that, The Rebel do have access to government funding like everyone else in the Canadian entertainment and media industry. If they don’t want to receive such funding, then fine – but then don’t complain about The Rebel not receiving tax dollars like liberal media sources who are smart enough to take advantage of the money.

(Jimmy) maybe if therebel was given over a billion a year and still charged mothly cable fees, would they then be as reputable as the CBC???
commented 2015-07-31 00:10:35 -0400
Well Jimmy, I acknowledge your opinion, and you’re certainly entitled to it, but I would still call it a professional news source. I worked in newspapers for twelve years and experienced firsthand the impact of social media and independent bloggers/wannabe journalists had on the media industry. One used to need a Masters in journalism from Carlton just to apply for a summer internship, but now anyone can go online and report the news without any clue as to journalistic responsibilities or ethical considerations. I would hope even you can admit the difference between media personalities like Jon Stewart and real news outlets, regardless of any overt or concealed bias held by one or the other.
And I’m not feeding the trolls, I’m trying to engage in a civil discussion with another commenter. If you don’t care to contribute, that’s fine, but name-calling just comes across as an attempt to silence alternate viewpoints. I admit to becoming exasperated sometimes, but I try to just take a deep breath, not take it personally, keep calm and carry on. Otherwise you’re just wasting your breath.

Please don’t feed the trolls.

To be fair despite your own personal opinion – The Rebel is not a professional news or media source. It’s a conservative OPINION website. Trudeau and Suzuki are under no obligation to give The Rebel the time of day.

Starting a website out of your living room – doesn’t make you a reputable news source, even if you agree with what’s being said. The Rebel just isn’t on the same playing field as CBC, The Star, The Toronto Sun, National Post, The Globe And Mail, etc. The Rebel isn’t owed acknowledgement.

Jon Stewart used to be funny, but for me his jokes just got old. Like watching reruns of Family Guy. That said, since he became the host of the Daily Show in 1999, he has never hidden his democratic sympathies, nor should he have been expected to. The Daily Show is, after all, FAKE news, akin to the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update. The only issue I have with The Daily Show is that a lot of people take it far too seriously, and have actually started relying on it as an actual news source. This has nothing to do with Jon Stewart.
Further, he criticized Democrats all the time, making them look incompetent, stupid and ineffective. Maybe not as much as he criticized Republicans, but again, The Daily Show is a satirical program carried by the Comedy Network, and as such, journalistic ethics don’t apply. Plus, it’s easier to make jokes about those in positions of power, whereas poking fun at the underdog just makes you look like a bully, and for most of the Daily Show’s history, the Republicans were in control. So what if Stewart is tight with Obama? He’s not a journalist, he’s just a comedian and popular media personality. He doesn’t have any obligation to be an equal opportunity offender. He just has a duty to be funny. If I don’t like it, I can always change the channel.
On the other hand, it’s highly inappropriate for a sitting president (Obama) to make so many appearances on a fake news show (and he must be aware that millions of American voters take it seriously) while at the same time refusing to give interviews or appear on Fox News, on the excuse that it’s critical of him, his policies and his administration. Fox may be a conservative news outlet, but it’s still an actual news organization and shouldn’t be treated any differently from any other, like CNN, ABC, CBS, or NBC. Politicians and public figures simply don’t have the right to censor unpopular opinion by screening media coverage. America (and Canada, in the case of Sun News and TheRebel.Media) are not Russia or China.
Like Jon Stewart, Fox News proudly announces its conservative viewpoint, so viewers know exactly what they’re getting. It also clearly distinguishes between its “news” coverage and its “opinion” shows. By contrast, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC all claim to be neutral and objective in all their content, and deny the fact that they consistently exhibit a liberal bias. Viewers who are dumb enough to treat The Daily Show as an accurate news source clearly don’t understand the difference, and are ignorant of real media bias even when it slaps them in the face.
When I want real news, I’ll go to a number of different sources (TheRebel, CBC, Global News, National Post, BBC, Fox News, CNN, etc.), not just one, and try to absorb and especially not one that is intended to be farcical. For lighter entertainment, I prefer either The Red Eye (on Fox) or The Colbert Show, but that’s just me.
And FYI, Greg Gutfeld is the former host of the Red Eye, for those who aren’t familiar. Gutfeld was, incidentally, supportive of the constitutional right to construct the infamous “Ground Zero Mosque”, a view not shared by most Republicans and even some Democrats. In a comedic move worthy of Jon Stewart, Gutfeld proposed building the world’s first Islamic-friendly gay bar next to the proposed site of the Cordoba House mosque, in the spirit of promoting understanding and tolerance, and naming the bar “Dialogue”. Ironically, the mosque developers refused his invitation to appear on the Red Eye, citing what they called Gutfeld’s unwillingness to engage in dialogue, yet they readily appeared on other media broadcasts in which they weren’t asked any tough questions and were essentially just given a platform to speak without being opposed.
The mosque organizers’ refusal is one thing, but Obama’s refusal to go on Fox News while eagerly going on Jon Stewart’s show numerous times is quite another, since he is a sitting president. But you can’t blame Jon Stewart for that. The wrong lies with Obama, just like Trudeau and Suzuki are wrong for favouring the CBC while pretending Sun News/TheRebel doesn’t exist.

Not sure what Stewart is – it certainly isn’t a comedian – I note he was one of a very few comics who cancelled his monologues when the comedy writers went on strike – matter of fact Jimmy D is way funnier, he can keep me in stitches by just posting question marks. Keep up the great Self-deprecating humor Jimmy. ;-)

Yep – absolutely right. Ezra clearly doesn’t watch The Daily Show to any great degree, but loses his shit when he hears about “secret meetings” with the White House. It’s fucking lazy reporting on Ezra’s part and he comes across here like Fox News douchebag Sean Hannity – who never knows what the fuck he is talking about. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sean Hannity is one of Ezra’s heroes.

You know it’s really too bad that Ezra doesn’t respond to comments on The Rebel and be held accountable for the dreck that he considers to be newsworthy in addition to the manufactured lies/outrage/fear mongering/hyperbole that he uses to get clicks. Ezra and The Rebel are all about clickbait, because they are too lazy to do real journalism and reporting.

You OBVIOUSLY have never watched this show or you only watched the segments that suit your needs. He has criticized the Obama administration as much as he had gotten behind it. That’s the difference between someone like you and someone like him. You will probably follow a hard party line while JS is free to criticize or glorify whomever he chooses. If you had watched last nights episode, he actually had a much more “secret” (and secret meets at the WH, typically the secret guest won’t sign the register) with Roger Ailes. I wonder why Rog wanted to meet with him? Before you spout drivel just to connect with your base and to get clicks, do some research.

Jimmy de Clueless . . . there is a large difference from being a lieberal and expressing your failed beliefs . . . to being a dopy clown show for the feckless Obama. Stewart allowed himself to be “Used” like a $2 hooker . . .
Saw Stewart on O’Reiley’s show a number of times . . . he was a bright guy . . . but he got “Played” like a Ghetto Dweller by the White House. But hey, he will likely go to Hollywood and get a job reading scripts in Michael Moore movies . . . lol

Jon Stewart’s humor sucks. It takes the low brow intelligence of the average leftie, like some brain dead idiot lefties who post on this site, to enjoy what is plainly stupid humor.

A very sad commentary on the state of a society when the equivalent of a fart joke is “one of the most intelligent and funny people in media today”.

To the conservative retards here – it was never a secret that Jon Stewart is liberal or that The Daily Show was liberal/progressive focused – even though Stewart would attack Obama, Democrats, CNN and MSNBC whenever they fucked up. You would know this if you actually watched his brilliant show.

Here is Jon Stewart’s response to people like Ezra Levant:

“I don’t know if they were secret,” Stewart said. “I’m in the visitors’ log, and they took pictures,” he said. He joked Obama just wanted to “hang,” eat nachos and watch King Ralph.

Asked if he thought it was “dangerous” for Obama to try to influence him and his jokes, Stewart snarked, “No. I think that’s what he’s trying to do, because I have a television show and sometimes we say shit about him and his policies.”

What’s next – is Ezra going to expose Bill Maher as a liberal?

This is just fucking lazy Ezra – even for you.

EGIL LOMELAND – You got me Egil, I am a huge fan of using tin foil over conventional plastic wrap. The bright side to all these meetings of course is Obama’s friendly embrace of the Jewish Community. Including atheist Jewish comedians like Jon.

Richard Brinkman: No doubt you are just one of the many Stewart fans from Canada. No wonder Canadians love Obama and Stewart, they are from the same left wing mentality. Please show that Obama did not attend the show a disproportionate number of times when compared to republican presidents. Please show that democrats were on the show more times during an election and for a longer period of time. The tin hat is on you in your attempt to keep out a reasonable perspective in viewing a very one sided political ‘comedy’ show. Are you also of the belief that Stewart did not attend at the White House?

This sounds a lot like one of those tin foil hat conspiracy theories to me Ezra – hang on, let me cross reference check this from your pal Jon Kay’s book “Among The Truthers” …. Yep you’re sounding like what Jon would call a CRANK with this story – Next thing you’ll be suggesting is 9/11 was an inside job like the 1 in 3 Canadians who doubt the official 9/11 narrative… Re- petitions to investigate 9/11 read in the house of Commons last Xmas 2014 – YouTube https://youtu.be/h6Uttp2zt40

Stewart was one dimensional. Did he make me laugh? Sure. did his clearly biased ‘jester tells the truth’ tactics get old? yes. he is the worst kind of smug hypocrite and I’m glad he’ll be gone soon. not surprised that he was in bed with the obama white house, his bias was apparent all along. the sad thing is the softballs he threw obama were some of the hardest questions the president has had to answer to date.

JIMMY, so your barometer about a person is whether they think Stewart is funny or not, what rot, that is about as shallow as person can get, everyone is different as to who they find humorous.
All i can say is, Stewart who ? ,so i guess that tells you everything about me,
Who the hell is Steven Crowder and Greg Gutfeld. never heard of them.
All the little bits they do to advertise Stewart show makes him look like an idiot and not funny at all, is he the one who dressed up the horse with pants? oh now thats funny, i guess thats the humor you like , we tend to be a little more sophisticated in what we like.
You pick on Ezra , but look what he has done from his living room, all you do is go on your computer and snipe, i can see you now pencil in your ear, intently looking at the screen, tongue hanging out the side of you mouth just waiting for something to snipe at.
Don’t knock Ezra ,he has done a lot and millions like him , your just a lonely voice in the wilderness crying for attention.
I imagine you hate Steven Harper so i would guess you spend a lot of time on his website sniping too.

Ezra think Jon Stewart isn’t funny – that tells me everything that I could want to know about him. Jon Stewart is actually one of the most intelligent and funny people in media today – and conservatives have said that.

You see, some conservatives can actually laugh when Stewart tears Fox News a new asshole or makes fun of GOP politicians. You clearly don’t watch The Daily Show, because Stewart also attacks the left, CNN, MSNBC and has been critical of Obama – when they fuck up.

I would love to know who Ezra thinks is actually funny – if Jon Stewart doesn’t do it for him. Dipshits like Steven Crowder and Greg Gutfeld?
