'Man kills computer', arrested for shooting desktop 8 times in cold blood

Rebel Staff

A Colorado man recently took out his frustrations on his computer in the best way possible.

38-year-old Lucas Hinch was reportedly so fed up with his Dell XPS 410 he took it into a back alley and “fired 8 shots into the computer with a handgun, effectively disabling it.”

The Smoking Gun reports that according to a police blotter entry, Hinch was cited for discharging a firearm within city limit. The entry included the description “Man Kills His Computer.”

Hinch told the website that he “had enough of his computer's blue screen of death.” He shot the machine with a 9mm Hi-Point pistol purchased off Craigslist.

The shooting took place outside a 'homeopathic herb store'  Hinch operates with his girlfriend.

I understand this guy’s frustration. I develop software for computers and administrate a network, so I can empathize, but my boss wouldn’t be too happy if I took his server out back and shot it. . . . But I would feel MUCH better.

Why am I reminded of the song, “Bubba Shot The Jukebox”? “Reckless discharge of a gun/That’s what the officer’s claiming/Bubba yelled ‘Reckless, hell!/ I hit just where I was aiming!’”

Let’s hear it for computer rights. Some crowd funding for the deceased. Oh come on! Have a heart. You are still human, aren’t you? The cops can’t seem to tell the difference but then they spend all their time on computers these days.

I was told about someone who took a baseball bat to his computer, and have talked to a couple of computer technicians who have had to fix “man made issues” with computers brought to them. I understand the absolute frustration in dealing with computers.
