#FireDancey UPDATE: Media Party cares more about how Ezra Levant got Notley appointee's criminal records than what they reveal

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

A month ago, we broke the story that Brent Dancey, the chief of staff for Alberta's NDP Minister of the Environment and Status of Women, was a violent convicted criminal.

I found out about Dancey's conviction through a tip, filed a request for his records at a Regina courthouse, and a clerk handed them over.

It's called "journalism" -- but other Canadian reporters are less interested in how and why a convicted violent criminal from Saskatchewan got a powerful job with the new Alberta government than they are in how I got hold of these papers!

The Media Party is either silent about this revelation about who is working for Rachel Notley, or outraged over my acquisition of Dancey's record. (After all, Dancey was subsequently pardoned and those records were supposed to be sealed.)

Some of them think it's some kind of conspiracy. Of course, it was just a clerical error, but that won't stop Canada's Media Party from making this story about me -- complete with big photos of yours truly -- instead of Dancey, Notley, her "amazing" shoes and her anti-oilsands crew.

SIGN OUR PETITION to fire Brent Dancey.

Jimmy, I don’t mean to be rude. BUT WILL YOU WAKE UP PLEASE. When you run for any public office in any part of the planet including Canada, your life is opened to the public. They need to know who is leading and if they should allow it.

Jimmy I would have thought you would have known that. Yes he wasn’t voted in, but he has taken the second largest seat after the elected official. If this a PC or even a Wildrose chief it would have reported canada wide.

Peter Netterville, I was thinking along that point also. We already know most educational institutions try to push more of the “progressive agenda”.

Anon, that is because most people just watch the main stream media. They no doubt are informed as far as the MSM takes them. I have talked to a lot of people that are the same. Most do not even realize that they are only being fed a very specific left wing agenda.

i have been talking to clients in AB and even they don’t know about these appointments and I thought they were informed…strange…

They are making an issue out of Ezra garnering the information that was supposed to be sealed, so that they have an excuse for not reporting on it, and they get to criticize Ezra.
commented 2015-07-21 14:11:59 -0400
I would be extremely afraid, Ezra, that the “Media Party” will find a way to shut you down for daring to expose their ineptitude in doing “real” journalism. Keep rebelling! Give us the “other side of the story”, so that we can make informed choices and just NOT buy into the “BULL” that is fed to us by the mainstream media.

I didn’t stumble into anything. He got his second chance at life.

or is that “toe” the party line? Meh, either way.

Mancave asked, "It makes you wonder what they are teaching in journalist schools these days. "

How to be a good Leninist and tow the communist party line when “reporting” the “news”.

I don’t doubt that as soon as he hooked up with the ndp in Manitoba that they had his records sealed
commented 2015-07-21 12:33:21 -0400
If journalists from the MSM were smart, which many are not, should at least see what Ezra and Brian are reporting. Ezra and Brian broke some big stories that the MSM had to follow up on. It makes you wonder what they are teaching in journalist schools these days.

Oh, this is a classic example of why MSM has fallen from grace in the eyes of many! Ezra embarrassed them, again… and now they cry and whine about Ezra digging up facts about one of the chiefs of staff. Will this change their ways? No. Will this sway public opinion? No.

John Day brings up a really interesting question though. Why were the records sealed? I can access many public offenders criminal files, but what makes this case so different? Why was it supposed to be sealed? Did Dancey have some massive pull over the system? What are the courts trying to hide?

I did write to the NDP about this. There response was basically saying that they don’t care about his past and also said the we was never a lobbies, even though his name was on their Web page. They also said that they hired him because of his expertise that the search all over Canada not just in Alberta. Just to show how pathetic the NDP are in their unbiased ways!!!!!!
commented 2015-07-21 08:41:39 -0400
John Day – exactly. I’m also curious about why a pardon was granted. Did he say he was really, really sorry and wouldn’t do it again unless he was really drunk?
commented 2015-07-21 08:10:38 -0400
So, exactly why do we seal the records of violent criminals? They should never be sealed!

Jimmy Da Silva – the local paid for blawger courtesy the MSM. Torstar called Jimmy Da Silva – they have a t-shirt for you.

Just checked alexa rank – macleans.ca = 1030, THEREBEL.MEDIA = 1052.

And how many days has Ezra been running this site? Traffic speaks loudly. How many decades has macleans been operating? MSM is a pile of goo and the majority of Canadian voters know this.

You want a liberal disclosure ad, call the Conservative party, not the MSM. You want a Conservative attack ad, read the glop and snail or the tor-redstar, don’t ask the liberal pigs. They’re busy drafting plans for ….well something.

The MSM is so pathetic in Canada now that you’d think they would be ashamed to collect their pay.

Ezra, you are my hero. You reflect everything I stand for… I so admire you. Keep it up, we need more people like you.

Rodger said, “No wonder people hate/distrust the media.”

Yes, it has been a long time since the main stream media once held to the journalistic principles they swore as student journalists to uphold. Now it’s all about pushing their left wing agenda by selective and false reporting.
commented 2015-07-21 00:13:39 -0400
Do you think that if a Harper government chief of staff or a PC/Wildrose chief of staff had a violent arrest on his record that they would care if it was sealed or pardoned while they reported on it endlessly, day and night? Yeah, me neither.

No wonder people hate/distrust the media.
commented 2015-07-20 23:04:25 -0400
What else would you expect when the MSM “journalist and columnist” rely on the twitterverse and facebook to make up some left leaning story. At least the rebel crew will take the time and have the resourcefulness to research an issue and give an honest report on it.
commented 2015-07-20 22:57:48 -0400
I would like to see Ezra receive an award from CAJ but I think he has made them look like fools too often to be considered, they might have to take him to the human rights instead for hurt feelings
commented 2015-07-20 22:43:28 -0400
Justin Da Silva cares about the Rebel!!!!
commented 2015-07-20 22:15:46 -0400
This has to be the best example of mainstream media not doing their job, and shooting the messenger.
commented 2015-07-20 22:13:20 -0400
“I guess Ezra doesn’t believe in the notion that when you have paid your debt to society”

Thanks for proving my point so willingly, little Jimmykins! You stumbled stupidly right into that one.
commented 2015-07-20 21:55:44 -0400
I think the lesson to be learned here is that nobody gives a fuck about the things that The Rebel makes protests and campaigns about.

How did that Tim Hortons boycott work out for you? The Enbridge “scandal” has been long forgotten and it’s business as usual at Tim Hortons. They haven’t lost business over Enbridge.
commented 2015-07-20 21:41:14 -0400
I guess Ezra doesn’t believe in the notion that when you have paid your debt to society – you get a clean slate and a second chance. His past criminal record should be completely irrelevant when it comes to his career now. He did something terrible and has paid for it. He doesn’t owe anything to anyone now.
commented 2015-07-20 21:19:59 -0400
Shoot the messenger, I guess.
commented 2015-07-20 21:17:08 -0400
Maybe his Pardon expired or was revoked! I was told by someone that Pardons can expire but have not researched if it is true.
