Under any other circumstances, Austin Lewis would be the Ontario Human Rights Commission's latest poster boy: He's in a wheelchair and has been denied accommodation in taxpayer subsidized housing.
Except that particular building is Muslim-only -- a blatantly discriminatory provision that the City of Toronto itself signed off on.
Now, I believe that private property owners should be allowed to decide who they rent to or do business with.
But this housing development isn't really private property, because every taxpayer in Toronto is helping pay for it.
We're being forced to subsidize left wing bigotry.
(PS: I'll also tell you about two recent Ontario Human Rights Tribunal decisions that are just as twisted.)
UPDATE: At least a dozen others have been denied apartments in the same building, for the same reason. WATCH here.
We have to tell Toronto Mayor John Tory, and the whole city council, that a “no infidels allowed” public housing policy is just as un-Canadian as a “no Jews allowed” or “no Blacks allowed” policy would be.
It’s discriminatory. It’s just not the Canadian way.
And taxpayer money shouldn’t go to set up a sharia law ghetto.
Will you help me convince Toronto’s politicians to stop funding segregation in Canada?
