Prentice resignation triggers by-election -- so he should pay the $250,000 bill

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Paige Macpherson of the Alberta chapter of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation joined me to talk about Jim Prentice's shocking election-night decision to abandon his seat.

Not only did Prentice step down from his seat after winning it, but he also left taxpayers with a $250,000 bill for the subsequent by-election.

As Macpherson explains, however, that's nothing compared to what the ultimate price tag for a provincial election she calls unnecessary.

It's all part of Prentice's well-established disdain for democracy -- the same anti-democratic instinct we saw him display during the Wildrose defections.

Yes he should be forced to pay for this bi-election! I’m really sick and tired of people running for government winning their seat then quiting part way though the mandate. This is a complete slap in the face to the people that voted for you. It just show you why yet again, how turned of people are when it comes to politics and why so many people don’t bother to vote any more. As far as I’m concerned this should be a law. Enough of these self serving cry babies that I hear about it seems all to many times. Make them pay if they quit, that us the least they can do!!!!! Or go to jail!!!!!!!

Slick Jimmy only wanted to be the boss, so he could add a feather to his cap, and manipulate our economy for his own gain, and that of his snobby friends. He has no integrity! I see why PM Harper kicked him to the curb. It is exactly what he deserves for ridding roughshod over our democratic rights! The people of Alberta read him clearly, for the narcissistic fraud that he is. It is only too bad that the people mistakenly chose socialists, over common sense.

Prentice lost and is an idiot.
Saying that Prentice owes a bloatus gooberment for quitting is equally stupid.

Change the rules for ALL MLAs if you want to make this “pay for quitting” thing stick.

I didn’t know Paige lived in Alberta. Maybe she can be part of the Alberta branch of TheRebel, should enough crowd sourcing funds be raised to start it.

Prentice could see that he was pushed out of the trough and the sty. Put the paper shredders into overdrive and get out while the getting is still good. Stay on his case Paige, you’re doing a great job.

There is no way that career politicians are ever held accountable unless we the people demand changes. I haven’t figured out how to make that possible because the way our system is constructed we the people never really have a say but to vote in more career politicians. What if that everyone who wins a vote by the people becomes a provincial employee subject to rules that govern all the rest of the employees. This would include pension plans the same as the norm, flat rate pay with deductions to those who miss parliamentary stuff, don’t know what to do about lobbying money other that some must be held back in the event someone quits that money is then to cover a byelection so tax payers are never on the hook. That’s all I got but there’s a lot smarter people out there with better ideas than mine. Something has to be done ,with all these rookie MLAs maybe that would be a start before they to become to cozy with the current system. I pitched this idea to a long time trough swiller once, his reply was that you would never get anyone to run.

Send this globalist minion back into exile with the other trilaterals – Alberta’s resources are the property of the people, not the elitist scum Prentice pimps for.
