In this day and age of random terrorist attacks, how many times have we been told by authorities to “keep an eye out for suspicious activity”? You know, “see something, say something”?
I can’t help but notice how often citizens are “punished” or otherwise “shamed” for doing precisely that, depending of course on “who” is behaving suspiciously and our reasons for considering the behaviour suspicious, as we saw in the case of the San Bernardino shooting.
Closer to home, I look into a recent event at a busy Vancouver mall which has left some clamouring for an investigation or a Royal Commission on racial profiling. I still have some questions about this strange story but bottom line, not only is the world getting more dangerous, it’s getting increasingly complicated when it comes to addressing the danger when whether or not someone has done the right thing, is highly dependent on the highly selective and complicated rules of political correctness.
