It may be that Justin didn’t want to face the public the day after “Elbowgate” exploded that explains why Trudeau didn’t come out for question period. He may feel justifiably, exposed as a bit of a dictator.
He did apologize (sort of) earlier in the day and maybe he wanted a bit of a break before facing opposition MP’s again.
In his absence, the opposition was able to extract something from the government that is a positive for the state of our democracy.
Part of the reason for much of the tension in the House of Commons these days is due to the draconian ways the government has been acting, for example when they shut down debate on contentious conscience issues like the Assisted Suicide Bill C-14.
Watch as I explain why things were getting so heated, especially after the Liberals brought in something called “Motion 6” which would have shut down debate even more, and as Conservative leader Rona Ambrose challenges Liberal House Leader Dominic Leblanc to withdraw this anti-democratic motion.
