Alberta election: Brian Jean hits back at fiscal critics

Marc PatroneRebel Commentator

Wildrose leader Brian Jean hit back at critics of his fiscal plan in Chestermere after six PC cabinet ministers accused him of hiding the real cuts he's planning.

Jean rallied the troops in the key riding of Chestermere Rocky-View, taking time out to blast the PC plan to raise dozens of taxes.

Jean says his plan is the most clear of all the proposals no on the table.

"What he's upset about is the plan is good. Albertans like it because it's low taxes. There's no new taxes. We're actually balancing the budget in a couple of years. And we're doing it without putting it on the backs of middle class Albertans," says Jean.

Jean says the last thing Albertans need during a time of low oil prices is to see their taxes go up.

@bill Elder I’m sure the rebels would love to have coverage. But I doubt they have the manpower. Perhaps rebel viewers submit videos to youtube and therebel.media from local campaign headquarters on election night would help the cause.

Joan, we cannot split the “right” as there is no other party on the right other than the Wildrose. The PC party is not in any way right wing any more. But even though I am Conservative, if push comes to shove and if the Wildrose does not take office, then I would rather someone else take office other than these PCs. These PCs must go, 44 years is far too long. They need to sit it out for a few terms to get their act back to being Conservative.

The only way we are going to know if Brian Jean can do what he says is to give him a majority for one term. He certainly cannot get Alberta into a worse situation in one term than the PCs have done since Ralph set the books straight ’till now.

It sounds good in theory. And great if it succeeds not just in beating the PCs but also in not ushering into power the NDP by splitting the right. Get it right, Alberta!
