Alberta election: Have voters forgiven Jeff Wilson for crossing the floor?

Marc PatroneRebel Commentator

For the most part, ex-Wildrose member Jeff Wilson says he's been forgiven by voters.

Wilson was one of the notorious nine on the day that will live in Alberta political infamy.

He was one of the key members of that party crossed the floor along with eight other opposition members to join the PC Party December 17th 2014.

Now, he's running for a seat under the PC banner and that means facing the music from folks at the door who opposed the move.

When asked whether people have forgiven him for crossing the floor, Wilson responds this way:

"I would think, the most part. We'll find out on May 5th."

Wilson is one of only a handful of ex-Wildrose MLAs able to run for the PCs.

His former Wildrose leader Danielle Smith was defeated in her nomination meeting.

Valerie, don’t turn your back on the NDP. If they pitch successfully to the growing unemployed, they could split the right and grab power. Wouldn’t that be a nightmare?

I hope Albertans do not “cut off their noses to spite their faces!” They may find out that they get “more than they bargain for”.

Another member of the “Opportunist” Party of Alberta. I hope his constituents realize the lack of backbone Jeff Wilson dispayed and the contempt he had for them . Turf him.

I’m not a supporter of this floor crossing phenomenon. If I help elect a member of a certain party then that’s the party he or she had damned well better stay with until the next election. If they want to quit a party mid game then there has to be a by-election in that riding. You betray my trust and you loose my support. If I wanted a different party member or an independent to represent me then that is whom I would have voted for in the first place!

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, Mr Wilson… You still belong to a despised Party…

He would do well to remember what happened to Danielle Smith. Albertans aren’t very forgiving. We expect more from our politicians than other Canadians do.

He isn’t in my riding and if he was and came to my door he would get an earful.

I wouldn’t give him the time of day either, but he is not running in my riding.

Go Wildrose!
