Alberta election: Wildrose braces for PC "slander and slur" campaign

Marc PatroneRebel Commentator

Alberta's Wildrose party is bracing itself for an onslaught of smear and character assassination courtesy of the PC war machine.

The party has sent out a call for donations to help it withstand what leader Brian Jean calls "slander and slur."

He says the past practices of the well financed PC war machine show it will stoop to any level to win.

Jean says there has to be a better way.

"We've seen it so many times before from the PCs in election after election how they disparage their competitors, how they throw dirt and mud and I don't think that's how politics should be done in Alberta, I think it's time for a change," says Jean.

He was in Edmonton to announce on plans to improve accountabilty and run a less secretive government if he's elected May 5th.

“But what can we do about it?” Forgive me, Peter, for stating what should have been obvious (at least, to me) — at the very least, tell everyone we know about this site, and tell everyone we know about what the msm is NOT saying! If the majority of people only get biased news, then we, who have the (mostly) unbiased source must advertise that source! Then, hopefully, the populace can make a more-informed decision.

As it is, I think the msm is severely underestimating the frustration level of the average Albertan…

Mark, I hear ya, loud and clear!

I get so frustrated at how the MSM intentionally manipulates the news to suit there agenda. There MUST be something illegal about that. It most certainly is immoral in the extreme. They actually attempt to change the outcome of an election, and as you pointed out, they DID change the results of the last election in Alberta. Yet, the left wing MSM will claim they are the champions of democracy. What a load of crap.

But what can we do about it?

As much as I applaud and agree with your statement, Peter, we mustn’t forget the mainstream media’s bias against anything resembling responsibility… especially personal responsibility. Just like last election, when the msm completely slagged the Wildrose over contentious, but logical, statements, and basically threw the election Redford’s way. This time, they’ll soft-pedal Prentice, and trash Wildrose as being extremist and irresponsible and whatever-else-may-stick. Moreover, the general public doesn’t know about this website; all the info they get is from CBC and CTV… and maybe Global… (in other words, garbage propaganda).

It is nice to see the support for the Wildrose here on this site.

The more Prentice throws mud, the more the intelligent Albertans will be turned off by that behaviour and vote for someone else, and even though I would like to see everyone vote for the Wildrose, I would be happy if all they did was to NOT vote PC.

I don’t care what the PCs do in the campaign. I volunteered my time to the Wildrose Party.

They can throw all the mud they want. I will not be voting for the PCs. Their garbage didn’t sway my vote last time and won’t this time. Go Wildrose!
