"Humility": Government bank economist tells Albertans to "lower expectations"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Todd Hirsch calls himself "Alberta's economist." He's at the province's government owned bank (a vestige of the old Social Credit era.)

It's the time of year when everyone is making forecasts and predictions, so what did Hirsch tell Albertans to expect?

Well, he made a joke about it:

"Calgary economic forecast calls for heavy humility in 2016"

Meaning what? That the NDP will finally cut out the hubris and stop trying to destroy everything that made Alberta great?

Of course not! He says citizens in the private sector needs to accept a smaller life. Be less confident, and live with "lower expectations."

Naturally, public sector one-percenter Hirsch isn't volunteering to take a salary cut. Neither are thousands of other government workers.

It makes you wonder what the NDP has in mind for the new year...

Then Notley will have to accept lower expectations. After all, it looks like she will have to learn all about humility the hardest way.

Oh well.

You can trash Atb all you like but remember people it is Alberta and all the other banks out there across nation stand to make twice as much money I have never had an issue with my buisness and all my personal banking is with them I do very much believe in what Todd has to say they also carry one of the strongest portfolios in compass so maybe look at rbc td or Cibc then give your opinion

From what I understand the ATB stands to make a lot off the push to destroy AB, via the evil green machine. Those in the charge of ATB need to be audited.
commented 2016-01-04 20:23:13 -0500
I wish it were possible to short ATB.

Why do the people of Alberta still have their money in this bank, or have loans with them ? If we can’t vote the NDP out for a few years at least we still have the choice of where we put our money, and what banks we borrow from. Albertans are people that stand up and take action. These people wouldn’t have jobs if the people of Alberta refused to support this bank.

Hirsch is just another champagne leftist: poverty for thee, but not for me
There is only one route to fix this leftist ‘problem’ while there is still an Alberta left to save. The whole leftist cabal of unions, bureaucrats, leftist political parasites and politicians need to removed. We are way beyond fixing this mess by democratic means, time to tear this rat infested house down to the foundations and rebuild.

all right….forget about kicking the NDP out, it is time to hang these bastards for treason the same way it was done in the old west.

thankyou to The Rebel again for putting the truth out there.

There is one good thing about Alberta’s situation. Alberta will never vote Left (Libbers or Dippers) again.. Perhaps the rest of Canada will learn from this, also. If ever the MSM tells the truth..

Scott Allen- I’ll bet it wouldn’t be too hard to find dirt on theses NDP idiots. Most of them threw their name in the hat because they were loitering around looking for something better to do and, suddenly- holy f$&k I’m a politician. From what I’ve seen so far, most of the NDP elected in Alberta didn’t expect, nor were prepared, nor were qualified to be re-writing history. This is a “let’s figure it out as we go along” government, with the help of Toronto and Vancouver of course.

Robert Hewgill – we should start to rotate picket lines in front of all ATB’s. This would be a good way to cause a run on their customer base, and point out what is really going on with this rogue government, and their hand puppet government agencies.

There are lot things individuals can do to help defeat these tyrants. On the surface, seemingly it may not look like much from an individual point of view, but multiplied thousands of times, it can topple giants. With the ATB, it’s an easy one. Close your accounts , divest of any investments you have with them, move any loans to other institutions. Convince your friends and acquaintances to do the same. We can lower their expectations considerably if we only act. I have already done so.

makes sense, you elect a “have not” government, you will end up with a “have not” province.

P G – I agree, whole heartedly. These crooks do not represent the majority of Albertans, which is why they are crying at the drop of a hat, because they are scared of the public backlash that is coming. And they still aren’t listening to Albertans and keep lecturing those of us paying the bills. I hope they don’t have a moments rest from the public hatred that these dopes are fanning. It’s their own fault, and they can cry me a river, and I still wouldn’t care at all. Power to the people of AB. Keep the heat turned on, and don’t let up, and will chase them out of our Province!

I can understand why Alberta pushed Cons out but the NDP hasn’t done itself any favors by going full-retard in mere months.

We need to look for mlas with a weakness or backgrounds we can exploit. The msm willingly engages in this we must fight just as dirty. If we can find misdeeds maybe we can force some byelections , if we can find mentally weak mlas maybe we can force them to quit under unrelenting pressure

As the ndp “Master Plan” or shall I say the ndp “Final Solution” has become clear we need stand up and say to them " We will not buckle to our knees and submit to your Socialist Utopia. We will fight you on the prairies and in the badlands. We will fight you on the mountains and on the rivers. We will fight you on the farms and ranches. We will fight you in streets and in our homes. We Will Never Surrender!
commented 2016-01-04 16:03:23 -0500
Deborah thats why we need to force them to quit if we can or force plebiscites on every bill they want to push through. The albertans first petitions look like they may work we need to continue that pressure.
commented 2016-01-04 16:02:31 -0500
Makes perfect sense. Elect a socialist government by protest vote, be prepared to lower your expectations unless you work for government.

What makes this NDP majority a perfect storm is that the energy sector was already in a downturn, and this ‘labour’ government cares more about carbon dioxide mythology than they do about energy workers.

How far does a party get campaigning on lowered expectations? Or the carrot and the stick approach of say Toronto’s Mayor who thinks citizens should be punished for not sorting their garbage properly. Who the hell cares about Seamus O’Regan’s alcohol problem. People have real life issues to concern themselves courtesy of our new progressive governments. Only weasel words and selfies are on offer.

Todd Hirsch you are about as straight as Trudeau says he’s a feminist. Todd Hirsch is the one who said tourism and restaurants were going to help bring alberta out of recession. Maybe what Todd Hirsch meant to say is he is gay and hoping that so many gay guys will come
To alberta to check out his useless gay ass. Has anyone heard this guy talk. He doesn’t even try to sound straight he is dreaming abt cock while he interviews and is secretly saying I hope I get lots of gay guys this year. It’s sad enough he is albertas reject economist. But it’s a dble embarrassment he is albertas gay useless economist who couldn’t predict himself out of a wet paper bag let alone another gay guys asshole and we all know he wouldn’t leave that. Yet I’m sure his handles on all his social media feeds is POOPY DINKS.

Charles White – I will bet that these misfits will stay in office until the next mandated election in 2020. There isn’t a chance that we will get rid of these communists in May of 2019. I am praying that we, the people, will be able to gather what is left and rebuild AB, once these disgusting fools are booted out.
commented 2016-01-04 15:28:38 -0500
Keep the pressure on every NDP MLA, the pressure cracks will begin to show! Turn up the heat, and let’s rid AB of these traitors to democracy. I’m getting pretty sick of the classless lectures from those with no real life experience, telling us to suck it up! I can’t wait for the next election, so that we the people can throws these bums out of office. They never should have been allowed in to begin with.

Scott to true. I intend to keep critiquing my MLA and her performance and her governments performance…hopefully it doesn’t mean she is going to cry again in the Legislature. That was humiliating. Maybe she will end up moving to BC, who knows.

Up the ante with protests (maybe a few farm fresh eggs) to make their existence a bigger problem.

Another Alberta group that this clown should tell to lower expectations are the charities. I mentioned in previous posts that these will be the first item of my budget to take a hit after it takes the tax hit; after all, the New Destruction Party will look after those charities with the increased monies from taxes. Same plan for my Canadian charities once Junior is done revising the Federal taxes.. After all, what are taxes for but to look after the needy. Except I guess the needy will be defined as people like Hirsch.
