AB Health “spenducrat” travels in Kanye-style town car on your dime

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Commentator

We have a bureaucrat in Alberta that makes limousine Liberal federal Health Minister Jane Philpott look like Scrooge McDuck.

Marilyn Smith chairs the Calgary Mental Health Review panel and sometimes has to travel around the province for work but unlike us, she loves her chauffeurs. She takes them everywhere from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat to Canmore, and we pay for them.

Alberta Health was warned about “Diamond Marilyn” and her lust for luxury at the beginning of February by the Canadian Taxpayer’s Federation who informed them that Smith had charged $26,895.67 for chauffeur driven town cars in 2015.

Since that warning and despite Alberta Health promises, nothing has changed with Smith’s opulent ways.

So where's Health Minister Sarah Hoffman on this? She’s spearheading the fight to undo power purchase agreements to save Albertans money but maybe she needs to start with her own wasteful Ministry and rein in these out of control spenducrats.

Notley talks about finding efficiencies but somehow missed these publicly posted expenses. That’s because the NDP aren't looking. They would rather find more ways to tax you to keep their public sector chums rolling around in town cars like Kanye.

Right now, the NDP are angry because Jason Kenney is driving around the province on a truck tour but at least it's his own truck, he’s driving and I'm not paying for it.

The NDP need to stop worrying about Jason Kenney’s personal vehicle and pay attention to the limos of Alberta Health.

Speaking of government transportation!
I will not be satisfied until all MLA’s and government bureaucrats turn in their the keys of their government provided fossil fueled vehicles in exchange for new electric cars. No exceptions! And also prohibit any transportation by Alberta MLA’s and bureaucrats that require fossil fuel to operate. Which includes rentals, cabs etc.
. . . 2 years plus 8 months and counting.

Still in pain waiting for surgery that took 3 months to get done last time. Glad the NDP is spending billions to more than double wait times.

Steve Hicken i guess there are always murders and rapes, lets just quit acting or speaking of those and move on.

Steve Hicken it is not a dead horse.

Andrew yeah we are the ones who had a cow over orange juice. Your deflecting is pathetic. I suppose you believe Hillary when she blames everything on a vast right wing conspiracy.

Steve Hicken proclaimed, “all parties do this when they are in power and it will never stop”

Fascinating how a $1000 limo ride is okay if it is a socialist spending the tax payer money, but $18 orange juice is way excessive if it is a Conservative spending the money.

Typical hypocrite socialists with their fluid “fit the moment” morality.

In the end this gravy train will stop.

There will be a year of doing the trudeau thing – undoing all the things the ndp ba*tards have brought in.

There will be a reckoning

And I will be ever so happy to see it happen

So, Andrew, this type of spending is a non-issue for you?
commented 2016-08-23 14:32:47 -0400
I’m pretty sure the term “spendocrat” originated in a satirical portrayal of the far right media as prone to fabricating hyperbolic buzzwords, in some sort of mock-outrage over nothing.

Spenducrat! Limocrat! New Democrat! What about the carbon footprint? Perhaps carbonocrat? Where does she think that fuel is coming from? Or, was it by chance an electric limo? Perhaps Ms. Wynne from Ontario gave her a grant to convert the limo to lectro!
