All talk, no action? Here’s how many Alberta PC MLA’s skipped CRITICAL carbon tax vote

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

The Alberta Progressive Conservative’s may say they’re against the carbon tax, but why wasn’t their key player, Energy and Environment critic Rick Fraser, in the Legislature to vote on the second and third readings of Bill 20?

Hansard documentation shows that on the second and third reading votes, Fraser was missing. That didn’t stop him from sending a mass email out asking for donations based on the premise of his opposition to the carbon tax. In fact, the subject line of the email reads “Our Decision to Vote Against Bill 20.”

Fraser is clearly banking on the fact that people don’t pay attention to deception in politics. That’s the reason that Albertans voted his party out in the first place. The PC’s vowed to fight the carbon tax - the biggest tax in the history of Alberta, but they’re not.

The carbon tax is going to take some Alberta families from just getting by, to deciding between paying bills or putting food on the table. And if the Progressive Conservatives can’t show up in the Legislature to fight for Albertan’s against tax hikes and shifty policies, they don’t deserve another chance come next election.

It is really disappointing to see so many conservative politicians cave into the carbon tax.

It was just last month, that Manitoba Conservative Premier Brian Pallister jumped on board the carbon tax band wagon.

Hey Kelvin, you went West, but I may soon head East to Swift Current. Still negotiating.

I think , Peter , for starters, demote Brian Jean and replace him with some one with less of the “PC” filter. Btw, I took Boyd’s advice and I am in BC ………. And surprise surprise , there is not many jobs out here either. But I am doing some placer mining, am finding a little colour and never felt more freedom out here in the bush, out here with the pot growers have some what changed my perspective on horticulture and that next year I may have to trade my somewhat tarnished gold thumb to a green one lol. Cheers and remember there is no left or right just freedom

@ Eileen

There already is a party called “The Alberta Party” and their policies are rather Liberal.

I agree with the idea of scrapping the two “conservative” parties in Alberta and making a new one except the two will never be scrapped and then we will have three and split the Conservative vote even further. I don’t actually have a solution to the problem. unfortunately.

Perhaps it is time for a “new” conservative party to rise like a phoenix out of the fire! Call it “The Albertan Party” much like Brad Wall’s “The Saskatchewan Party”.

Great reporting Holly, fair and honest. If only we could trust the MSM to do the same.

i pretty much agree with all you posters but what i don’t understand is why that milk toast wild rose leader they have has not been removed , he is all about political correctness as he demonstrated when one of the mp’s called out the dyke winnie, instead of giving him an atta boy he threw him under the bus and i suspect if elected the S O B would continue with a lot of nutley’s stupidity, the cons are dead in Alberta and the wild rose have the wrong leader , the leader of the party should be the one who called out the dyke, i apologize Alberta i can’t remember his name but i was proud of him

Holly, very good reporting and digging up the facts. Absolutely right all 3 of you, pc liberals don’t deserve another chance but the WR are not doing good because of what Brian Jean did to Derek Fildebrand. Derek’s suspension was uncalled for and I am still ticked about that and I hate the constant apologies from WR. Dismantle the liberals pc, change WR’s name and leader, dismantle the LIBERAL Alberta party (not conservative either) and build a strong, unapologetic, right wing party to fight the next election with everything they have got. Why can’t these self-absorbed pc think of Alberta ’s future instead of themselves. MLA Sandra Jensen is not a conservative after seeing her stupid rant a month ago or so. She should join the lying, cheating, stealing ndpees.

Oh Daniel Smith, look what you’ve accomplished.
I hope you’re working as a Walmart greeter for minimum wage

The PC’s are just another leftwing party trying to convince the public that they are conservative. I no longer think it a good idea for the WR to unite with the PC’s. They are too leftwing, and are not standing up for Albertan’s. I will vote for the WR again, over Rick McIvor’s PC party.

I agree with you completely, Holly.

The PC are slimy Liberals is a blue tie and do not deserve to get back into office.

Here is the problem, there are way too many Conservative Albertans that are not convinced that the PC are actually Liberals.

You are absolutely right, Holly. While I understand the dangers of a split right vote, I am not convinced that uniting the right is the answer. I am 100% behind the Wildrose and I don’t want to see them smear themselves with the PC bad smell. I would rather see the WR build their party and stay away from the AB PC’s. Just my thoughts, I know many will disagree.
