Amnesty International holds demo at Saudi Embassy. But who is Amnesty International?

On June 17, Amnesty International held a demonstration in front of the Saudi Embassy on Sussex Dr. in Ottawa.

At the end of the video, there is a reference to this article, which suggests that Amnesty International may have about as much to do with its original intentions as Black Lives Matters has to do with African-American rights.

Osama Saeed Bhutta has joined Amnesty International as communications director, after leaving Al Jazeera earlier this year.

Here are some of his qualifications to become a major official at a human rights NGO:

Bhutta supports the idea of a restored caliphate across the Muslim world, claiming that it would be completely compatible with human rights.

There is no point in comparing the political form a caliphate might take to those in centuries past. Institutions such as the British monarchy or the papacy have existed for centuries, but bear little resemblance today to what's gone before. A restored caliphate is entirely compatible with democratically accountable institutions.

@canadian mongrel:

I agree about Amnesty. They seem to have been subverted to the narrative like nearly all classically liberal organizations and along with a host of fake identity groups like Black Lives Matters and J street and so on.

But I disagree about that particular interview. I believe that man had to walk a sharp edge between trying to advocate for a liberal blogger without stepping on the toes of sharia law and its supporters, but knowing full well that is the real issue.

I suspect he felt the best chance of freeing Bedawi is to only focus on specific aspects of the issue and not broaden it.

Perhaps like the Church may have felt when the Nazis controlled much of Europe. The best shot of achieving specifics was to deal with the specifics.

At the end of the day, all these groups are corrupted by senility or subverted to cultural Marxist or Islamic agendas. So they all have to go if we hope to rebuild a secular liberal democracy where real religion is safe. But this particular agent of AI I believe was sincere and knew the facts probably as we do.

The AI spokesman is typical of the regressives when making a statement. Talk slowly in a patronizing manner.

I used to support AI when it was a non-partisan NGO truly interested in political prisoners of conscience and at one time did good, quality work. Then they just became a regressive left institution attacking western values. I first realized this when they put the local Woodland Cree on the list of abused people of conscience, which did not mesh with me seeing the Cree driving in fully decked out F250s.

Hence it is not surprising AI is being subsumed into the caliphate. It is the way of the regressive left. This spokesman can start slowly and patronizingly explain that throwing gays off buildings respects their human rights because they are not being kept as political prisoners.

Hmmm. I wonder if they support Trumps right to freedom of expression? I suspect they’d be at his rally the next day shouting him down.
