Annoying atheists weaponize Santa in 'Happy Holidays' campaign to get people to 'skip church'

American Atheists have a new campaign involving billboard ads that tell people to 'skip church'.

The billboards, which popped up in Colorado Springs and Winston-Salem, feature a picture of Santa Claus and the message “Go ahead and skip church! Just be good for goodness sake. Happy Holidays!”

In a statement, American Atheists President David Silverman said “We want people to know that going to church has absolutely nothing to do with being a good person. The things that are most important during the holiday season—spending time with loved ones, charity, and being merry—have nothing to do with religion.”

“Last year’s billboard showed a child writing a letter to Santa, telling him that all she wanted for Christmas was to skip church. This year, Santa wrote back,” Silverman added.

Nick Fish, national program director of American Atheists said, “It is important for these folks who are on the fence about their beliefs to know that they can take that first big step and leave church.”

How long until atheists get a billboard in Dearborn, Michigan featuring a cartoon of Muhammad telling Muslims to 'skip mosque' during Ramadan?

Sheldon Berg – I wholeheartedly agree with you! Merry Christmas!

I think a generally “good” person skipping church is more deserving of consideration in the afterlife than those that kill in the name of religion.

I support these Atheists. No need to go to church sounds like a good idea to me.

Muslims cut atheists throats also.

Theo Caldwell wrote a good piece recently about Christianity and its critics. No one is putting a gun to anyone’s head forcing them to go to church. Yet, there are plenty of people who will forcibly take my money because of CO2 in the atmosphere. I am grateful for a country where freedom of religion is still protected as well as freedom of conscience and freedom to speak your mind. If atheists don’t want to go to church then I am sure they will not. Those of us who believe that there is a necessary being responsible for the origin of this universe, origin of life, an all encompassing explanation of human intentionality, rationality, the human mind, and objective morality we will continue to maintain the logical soundness of this unshakable concept. For those of us who take the God concept further and believe that this being is personal we will take it to the next step. And, for those who have concluded that the Christian God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is the personal Logos as described in the gospel of John we will go to church when and where we see fit. We will continue to meet as ‘brothers and sisters’ in faith and community until we leave this world or are denied the right to do so by some tyranny yet to forbid the practice. Yet, there will be nothing that will separate us from the love of Christ. Amen.

Atheists are just somebody who is mad at God.

Kelly Weber – Jesus loves you and has invited you to come to any domination of Christmas Mass or work Christmas Day for regular pay and take Earth Day off in lieu.
God bless you.

Hey you atheists : Jesus loves you but Santa is going to leave a clump of biomass in your stocking since Notley has banned him from using coal.

To the people who replied to Kelly Weber. He is just being a snot. He knows that theRebel did not advocate to ban atheists from their point of view. And he knows that theRebel is just airing their opinion about the atheists. But apparently voicing your disagreement with someone is also trying to silence them … in Kelly’s world.

Don’t be too hard on the Kelly Weber’s of the world.
They’re pagans, intellectually challenged and morally bankrupt. You should feel sympathy and compassion for such small-minded Satanists or Islamists or homosexuals or pedophiles, or whatever these wretched creatures are.
Can you imagine the hell it must be to exist in their tiny little brains, with their shrivelled up little hearts and their self-loathing and degenerate lifestyles.
This imbecilic hater must have either been born with a huge intellectual deficit, or was raised by savages and degenerates. I’m sure he/she/it doesn’t really mean harm, who in their right mind would ever want be so ugly and stupid and delusional.
His/her/it’s mother probably dropped him/her/it on his/her/it’s head in a drunken stupor, or worse, he/she/it probably has FAS

You guys oughta talk with that atheist group about your “skip mosque” idea. Maybe get Ezra et al on board and organise some crowd funding to help make it happen across both our countries. Kudos for thinking of it. Not all us atheists are always right on top of such things.

@kelly Weber – The Rebel merely calls it ‘annoying’, not complaining about legality. The message is a cheap shot only, with no benefit to anyone except some atheist’s sanctimonious ego. It is however symbolic of the domestic anti-Christian bigotry so in vogue with the left.

Nothing here about stifling free speech. As a lefty you typically miss the point because you can’t see past your bubble. The point is the cowardly hypocrisy. Passive Christians have always been sitting ducks for atheists; but since the Muslims might shoot back or worse pull out the ‘race’ card, don’t expect to see any skip mosque signs anytime soon.

Hey Kelly, I don’t recall reading anywhere in the article about censoring atheists or sending them to jail or that they should be charged with a hate crime. Could you please tell me which paragraph or sentence this happened in. I might of missed it, and thank-you in advance,

Well the original Saint Nicholas did, in fact he was a bishop, fool!

I see the Rebel is all for free speech except when they don’t agree with the message! If it was a billboard telling you to go to church, that would be just fine and dandy. Do think Santa goes to church??
