BC salmon farmers sue activist after trespassing and harassment

Christopher WilsonRebel Commentator

Biologist and notorious anti-salmon farm activist Alexandra Morton has found herself in legal trouble: Marine Harvest Canada has launched a lawsuit against Morton for her illegal trespassing on Marine Harvest facilities back in August.

I told you about these unauthorized boarding of salmon farms earlier this month.

I’m glad to see Marine Harvest Canada push back with legal action. Far too often, our resource industries allow activists and protesters to participate in illegal trespassing, harassment and activism on their property without pushback or ramifications.

Here’s what Morton said in response to the lawsuit:

"I saw so many unhealthy farmed salmon this summer that I thought it was very important that someone go on the farm and document what exactly is going on in the pens.”

Well, that’s exactly what I did back in July, with the permission of Marine Harvest Canada.

I saw hundreds of healthy Atlantic salmon, hardworking Canadians, and a concern and care for the animals.

And despite Ms Morton’s claims that these salmon farms are hiding things from the public, Marine Harvest Canada is inviting members of the public to tour one of their facilities.

I wouldn’t eat an Atlantic salmon unless someone put a gun to my head. Cost of wild salmon, and other fish species, such as halibut and ling cod are prohibitive for Canadians. Our healthy, tasty fish goes off to nimrodland, and we get to eat farmed salmon, and imported poisonous crap from China and Thailand. Having worked at a fish hatchery, there is NOTHING natural about the process. From egg to adult, the final result is solent green. There’s big money in farming fish, and little money given to enhancing wildlife species. There is no reason why I shouldn’t be able to buy a filet of sockeye salmon and not pay so much. It is our fish, in our oceans, and we deserve to eat it at an affordable price. In regard to employment, enhancement of wild fish species would create as many jobs, if not more. We might even think of processing our wild species here at home, like in the good old days. If Christopher thinks that male salmon swimming around in tanks over and over again is healthy, if poking fish with medication over and over again is healthy, if feeding them herring pulp, denied to other fish species in the oceans is healthy, if transporting these fish over miles and miles of land, using petroleum-based fuels in stryafoam boxes is healthy, if allowing raptors and snakes to feed on poison-laden morts is healthy, if killing black bears that come too close to sites is healthy, then I guess Canadians will continue to eat solent green. Fish farming should be outlawed!

Take her out behind the barn and shoot her. Take an extra bullet for Saint Suzuki. May as well take an extra for Pammy. In fact take a whole box of shells. I’ll compile the rest of the list.

Other things can happen to trespassers.

They should’ve filed a private charge as well, and still should. Trespassing is a criminal offense. Con’s are too soft. As for the activists getting off, well, they’re all lefty activists and lefty activist judges, and lefty activists have no morals or care what anyone thinks.

Morton will have a deep pocket defense fund, but it should become public knowledge as to who that fund is.

Second, it will be interesting to see how the ‘judiciary’ deals with the case. My bet is like the Quebec forestry issue and Green Peace, showing whose pockets the ‘judiciary’ is in.

Short term, not a good outlook. However, long term, with these two facts clarified it will could be a great outlook by waking people up.

I’m curious why the critter freaks aren’t having hissy fits over farmed shell fish and other aquaculture that has gone on since the turn of the last century – maybe mollusks and crustaceans aren’t as cuddly as salmon.
