Ben Levin sentencing: Day One

Emily PrattRebel Correspondent

Ben Levin’s child pornography sentencing hearing is now underway.

The former deputy education minister pled guilty last month to three child pornography related charges including making written child pornography, counselling a person to commit an assault, and possession of child pornography.

I report on what happened the first day of Levin's sentencing hearing.

I tried to post a comment on the CBC story about Duffy “why is there no mention of Levin” and they deleted it instantly ,makes you wonder what their priorities are

I actually hope he gets a day less than 2yrs, that would mean Provincial time, because of his crime Levin will do his whole time in segregation ( private cell 23hrs day ) Federal time means TV and video games in his cell, Provincial time just the odd old paper back ( rough time for sure ) for the un-informed. Anyway, I honestly didn’t think he’d get any time behind bars, so 2 – 4yrs makes my day :)

Guys, I realize that this is play TV – not the real thing – but is there some reason you’re making poor Emily record her stand-up, outside, in a high wind, without a windsock or a lav?

According to this shrink ‘Grozier’(sp?) , Levin has a “pedophilic interest”, is a “hands off offender” and represents a “low end spectrum of risk”?
“…In May, the APA released the Fifth Edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). In this document, the first new edition in 10 years, the APA described pedophilia as a sexual “orientation…”:
In ‘correcting their error’ the APA said this:
“…The corrected text differentiates between mere impulses and actual actions. It notes that if people “are not functionally limited by paraphilic impulses,” and “they have never acted on their impulses,” then they have “sexual interest but not pedophiliac disorder.”
So is Levin a diddler or is he not a diddler?
A lawyer once told me, “Bullshit baffles the brains.”

As they say the devil is in the details. I’d like to know if the ‘gentleman’ from England that Levin met in Amsterdam was a Pakistani national from Rotherham. I’d also like to know if Levin was in Amsterdam (RED LIGHT) on the taxpayers dollar?

Not for a moment do I believe that this twisted SOB just developed an interest in child porn 4 or 5 years ago. That’s a story designed to get a more lenient sentence and downplay his risk of reoffending. It’s far more likely that he’s been sexually abusing children in one form or another since early adulthood or even his teenage years. A combination of factors enabled him to cover his tracks and avoid detection; among those the Canadian justice system’s aversion to going after elitists with friends in high places. Similarly, his claim that this was all harmless fantasy is bogus and I’m sure he knows it. A guy with this education would know that teaching some similarly twisted freaks in online chat rooms about how to abuse their kids would result in a high probability of the freaks actually following his instructions. It’s chilling to think of how many defenseless children have been abused because of Ben Levin’s “counselling”. Who knows how many kids he’s actually abused and would have gone on to abuse had he not been caught.

I think he deserves a longer sentence even though I’m surprised that Ruby is agreeable to 2 years. He knows this freak is guilty and probably of a whole lot more. Still, no matter how long Levin sits in the jug, he’ll emerge as narcissistic and self-absorbed as ever. He’ll be protected in prison by the same elite that protected him for years on the outside. Let’s not forget that it was police in other countries who nailed him – not Canadian law enforcement. He’ll spend his days feeling sorry for himself and maybe writing some pitiful memoir where he casts himself as a victim of the system. In a few months he’ll be out and free to indulge his fantasies again. He’ll disappear into some corner of the earth where he can do as he pleases. I suspect his wife and his circle of cronies, many of whom have been enablers for years, will help him.

It’s shocking how little attention the msm is paying to this story. We should absolutely not let this get buried.

Michael Bergen, I disagree . I do not believe that short sentences are a strong deterent ,nor does the time fit the crime. Abused children carry their sentence for the rest of their lives. There is also a growing constituency of “academics” that believe that child porn is victimless and not a crime. They are trying to make pedophelia recognized as just another run of the mill sexual behaviour of humans. There is no doubt in my mind that Wynne was fully aware of Levins sexual proclivity. His involvement in the sick sex education policy certainly points to this.

I like your enthusiasm Harris. Personally, I am actually happy with two-three years. He has been exposed, that is the big thing here and his public life is ruined. How about Wynne and Mcguinty’s turn for an indictment for the gas plant scandal, because that would be lovely. It would be about time. Patience Michael, patience. The wheels of justice grind slowly but grind fine.

Judy, I am not sure Lauren Southern would have been too sympathetic to Ben Levin “getting it” in jail. Her whole point was simple enough. She just wanted recognition that men, too, have been abused.

Now I did not real all the posts in that thread, but I read enough to realize that there was a lot of misunderstanding of what Lauren said, or maybe an over-exaggeration of what she said. I am will to admit if I misunderstood her, but from what I heard her say in the video and in the posts she wrote is that all she was wanting is that the men who have been abused be recognized as such, but that society in general and the feminist movement specifically pushed things too far the other direction, making men out to always be the abuser and ignoring that men, too, have also been the abused, far more times than is generally recognized.

Did I misunderstand Lauren? Is that not what she was saying?

Peter Netterville…re your comment “I too hope for general population. I don’t think he would last long there. And I doubt while he lasted he would be able to sit down, too sore.”

Here is one of those poor fellows who might get raped in jail, according to Lauren Southern…“why I am not a feminist”…kind of puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?

Folks, see, here, the Crown Agreed Statement of Facts for Ben Levin: …beginning esp. at the pages following the full description of three images he sent to someone over the internet at the top of page 6…the ‘charges’ just don’t tell us much…you need to see this description of what Levin actually did and then tell us what sentence he deserves…

It is the sadism in his behaviour that really unnerves me, especially since the media seems to have little interest in his sordid life…and guess what? In perhaps 2.5 to 3 years he can go at it again more carefully…and probably more sadistically.

Premier Wynne’s right hand person deserves to get this shit kicked out of him in jail and he will. FU Wynne. FU Levin.
And to all those lazy socialist pigs at the CBC, Torstar, NP and Globe and Mail – FK THE LOT OF YOU!!!

While my children are now adults, I fear for my grandchild and any others to follow. This society is pathetic for failure to publicly execute this man and any like him. This problem continues to worsen in society and the Liberals continue to condone their behaviour.

His life should be forfeit upon conviction. So should the lives of those who conspire to save him.

all I can say, is just imagining any private conversations between Levin and Wynne, would probably make most people sick.

Joan, his only remorse is at being caught.

Frank, I too hope for general population. I don’t think he would last long there. And I doubt while he lasted he would be able to sit down, too sore.

As long as he serves his time in general population I’m all for just 3 years.

There is no way Levin only developed these tastes during the five years before he got caught. He has just admitted to what evidence police found. I bet he has been a tourist pedophile and that his Dutch friend could tell a tale or two.

Levin is not a stupid pedophile. He is well educated and sophisticated. He knows his best bet for a short and easy sentence is to register for counselling and pretend remorse. Had he experienced any real remorse or concern about what he was doing, he would not have waited until he got caught to seek help.

I will be surprised if he gets sentenced to two years in a penitentiary. I bet the judge sentences him to less than two years in a treatment facility. He is an old boy, after all.

I hope I’m wrong.

Even three year, eight months is ridiculously low amount. That is barely a slap on the wrist. I despise our “hug-a-thug” justice system.
