Just remember the old saying ( Those who can , do. Those who can’t , teach ) Just because you are teaching in university does not mean your educated. here’s an example I was working in a doctors home he was a highly skilled doctor but he could not hammer a nail in the wall or do any mechanical work so was he totally educated no but, just the same am I totally educated no because I can’t do an eye operation. We all have useful skills and as I say there is no such thing as disabled every one is able to do things and we should not judge a persons ability you would be surprised.

@fraser Mcburney…the Liberal members and cabinet as well as prime minister candidates who teach university have a simple solution to the tough questions they are asked ……“let’s just leave that for the experts”………..:-)

Oh, and by the way… I was under the impression that Lake St. Clair was also one of the Great Lakes?…

Pretty sad I would agree… Speaks volumes about our current education system doesn’t it?… However, if you re going to re-do this quiz again might I suggest you also tackle some “older” citizens? You might be pleasantly surprised by the answers… I got them all correct and I would bet that most “old timers” that I went to school with would also… So much for the illusion that the groovy and cool “internet generation” knows everything worth knowing…

Henry. “Are they spending ALL their time being indoctrinated into political correctness or do they actually learn some facts now and then???” Talk to most school age kids these days and one is left with the impression: A: Oil is bad B: Pipelines are bad C: Strategies on protesting oil and pipelines. D: Harper is bad E: Conservatives are bad. There are others, but I think you get the picture.

Great piece Jason & Matt, very funny but very worrying. How can so many Canadians not know the answers to these easy questions about Canada. These questions should be asked before voting in a federal election, because if they can’t answer these questions how in the world would they be able to decide who to vote for. This just crossed my mind. The questions should be asked of our candidates before they are able to run for office. Here is something we should do with the upcoming election. At the riding meetings when they ask for questions from the floor. Hand in some of these questions then decide if they are worthy of your vote. Here is betting over half won’t be able to answer them. For those of you who couldn’t answer the question name the great lakes just think of HOMES.

I watched the video and was horrified. Then Youtube showed me some other similar videos in the window where the video had run and I saw one which had Jay Leno interviewing American high school students about world geography. The Leno video was even more horrifying. I imagine he may have had to interview dozens of people to find those that are the most clueless but it was really FRIGHTENING to think that students were so appallingly ignorant but it’s deeply discouraging to find anyone so utterly ignorant.

I don’t know what the educational systems in Canada and the US are teaching kids but it definitely isn’t geography. (It’s not history either based on similar videos I’ve seen involving history. The kids in those videos had no idea what country Hitler ruled or when WW II was and thought Churchill might have been an American general.)

Just what DO they teach kids these days? I know they don’t teach cursive writing any more. They apparently don’t teach history or geography. Proficiency with English seems to decline every year; even professional publications are often riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. An acquaintance told me no one where he works – they are all recent high school graduates – can multiply by two except him. Are they spending ALL their time being indoctrinated into political correctness or do they actually learn some facts now and then???
