Former Calgary resident 68 year old John Ridsdel, one of four people taken hostage by Islamic terrorist group Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines back in September 2015, was decapitated on Monday.
The terrorists were demanding $6.5 million for each hostage. We don’t know why negotiations failed but seven months after his kidnapping, John Ridsdel is dead.
At a press conference today, Justin Trudeau expressed his outrage.
I don’t doubt for a moment that the Prime Minister is outraged. The question is, what is he going to do about it? What’s Canada going to do?
There’s still another Canadian being held hostage whose life is being threatened by this jihadist group who have pledged their allegiance to ISIS.
Whenever things like this happen, we say we’re outraged but then we look the other way.
The fact is, sometimes keeping the peace means doing difficult things in order to make it clear that there is a price to pay for messing with Canada.
If the Prime Minister is serious, he needs to show it.
