Car buyers beware! Revenue Canada grabs taxes on the price you DIDN’T pay, too

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

In the highly competitive auto sales business, it’s easy to find car dealerships offering consumers bargains on select models. They want your business. But did you know that when you get that discount off the full price of a car, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires the dealer to charge you tax even on the discount you received?

Dealers know it’s not fair, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says it’s not fair and so would most consumers. As the CTF says, you shouldn’t have to pay taxes on anything above the price that you paid for an item.

This is a tax grab, pure and simple.

And why is the government doing it? Because they can.

This is wrong and it needs to end. We’ll just have to wait and see if anybody has the gumption to end it.

Has anyone ever tracked how much HST is paid on a vehicle during its lifetime? It would boggle your mind!

Never buy new.

Always pay cash.

Always get a receipt for one dollar.

Take it to the registration office and pay your 14 cents or whatever taxes.

Register, insure and drive away.

That is how this family does it.

My latest – a 2013 Dodge pickup.

Paid cash – 22,000 bucks

Receipt for one dollar.

No government agency got more than one buck in tax.

Wife did the same with a 2002 Mazda Tribute that was sitting in a garage with less than 25K for mileage.

Paid 1100 bucks cash – and drove it away – got a receipt for one dollar – registered it and insured it – no tax to any federal agency – except the licensing bureau.

It can be done.

The governments and the civil servants – feds and provincials – think of you as trash. Never give them anything if you can help it.

Do as much as possible in cash and never use your debit or credit card unless forced to.

They do indeed track you.

And finally – switch over to cash by putting about ten bucks a day in a jar and leaving it it for a month. Then as you use that cash – keep putting that ten bucks a day in the jar. Any time you get more cash – an income tax return – put it in the jar.

Pretty soon you will not be going to the bank much at all and your credit and debit cards will be unused for long periods of time.

To paraphrase Bill Murray, “So, if we rip off the government, it’s fraud. But if they rip us off its politics?”

Look guys, Versailles eerr I mean 24 Sussex is desparatley in need of 10 million dollars of repairs. Maybe an dark evil genius like Harper could live in such a dilapitated old house, but not the Sunny Ways PM. So bring on the nannies, the bottled Perrier water and install all those special touches the first family requires. We should all just pay up for the lifestyle they want to be accustomed to……or not.

What a “Co-inky-dink”! – the two highest value items we purchase in our lives (our homes and our vehicles) are singled out for special treatment by our dear masters at Justin’s CRA. Not only do you get to pay inflated taxes based on “book value” rather than on what YOU paid, your home and your car gives the Lib cartel a tax grab EVERY TIME it changes hands!

I’m actually surprised to see this video – I didn’t realized there were people out there who didn’t know this blatant rip-off has been going on for years…

Not to worry – we will all have our revenge when Notley, Trudeau, and the Leapers finally achieve their objectives and the middle class is homeless, jobless and without personal transportation. Hobos living in cardboard boxes don’t tend to pay much in taxes!

How is even legal? Tax on what the government thinks you should have paid. Don’t see how there is no class action.

A clean sweep in the maritimes.

A strong showing in kebec.

A strong showing in wyntario.

If you did not vote for the libs – then friends and family did.

The canadallah voter got what s/he deserves.

If you have a gripe – take it to your mp – because IT IS legal and the canadallah voter got us there.

Suck it up or bitch loud and long to the right people until it gets changed.

In the end no one will – and we will all continue to to pay.

Because it is easier to bitch about something than it is to act.

That is why it is important to never buy new – use cash to buy to buy and get a receipt for one dollar for the car.

I have bought my last 5 vehicles this way including three pickup trucks.

Never use credit if you can help it – you will be tracked by the feds AND the province

At this rate, it will not be long before we see the liberals put in a coupon tax.

You deserve this Canada.

You chose the librano marxists who will continue to financially rape you.

You knew it before you chose Bernie Trudeau and now it’s happening. Where’s the surprise??

There is none. When you choose a financial rapist party and you get financially raped, you deserve it.

Woah! What about the rebate for electric cars? What about cars who’s MSRP is over estimated? How about the power tools I purchase at less than MSRP? Am I going to pay a higher tax than the purchase price represents?

Oh, Oh, but, you’re in line for a hug (as he reaches his hand into your pocket some more) and maybe even a selfie!!!! That should be worth it…….
The narcissistic communist and his band of thieves believe that if they just do what they want at will, everyone will just get used to it and eventually just accept it.
Be rest assured that this won’t stop with the auto industry, either!
What do you 40 percenters think about your gullibility and stupidity now? Oh, right, you’re special and aren’t affected by this. Actually it helps to keep you going…..
