Celebrity chef campaigns for “sugar tax” — but LOOK what’s in “con man” Jamie Oliver’s own recipes

Rebel Staff

When he’s talking about food, Jamie Oliver is a hoot. But the thing about celebrities is that when they become successes, and enter the vacuous world of Hollywood, they have a yearning to be "real again."

This week Jamie Oliver went to the British Parliament and filmed a long rant about taxing soft drinks.

So I went to Oliver’s own website to see what kind of healthy food and drink he offers in the alternative:

For one thing, his “Vegan Tart” has 71 grams of sugar. Twice as much as a can of Coke.

Wait until you see just how much of a hypocrite Jamie Oliver really is…

NEXT: Amber Ruddy, the Alberta Director of the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses, explains what she thinks the province needs to do to get back in black.

THEN: Sun Media columnist Candace Malcolm has a common-sense reaction to the Toronto Police Services refusal to call Islamic terrorism what it is.

FINALLY: Your messages to me, good and bad!

Though I am totally appalled at Superstore offering meat where animals are tortured. I’ve been reviewing what I will say when I contact them about this cruelty to animals!

Well I guess it’s time to stop shopping at Sobey’s and Safeway, since Sobey’s owns Safeway. Their prices are getting to high to warrant shopping there. I don’t need them meddling in the market place to tell me what to eat. I’ll stick with Super Store, they are Canadian, and I’d rather my money go to Canada.

Ouch. That one hurt. I am a big Jamie fan, and an Ezra fan, so that was pretty tough to hear. Healthcare costs from diet related disease are a huge drain on the health care system. Jamie is trying to bring awareness to added sugars, processed foods, additives and to sugary beverages – his ingredients and recipes are clean, and he does not say “no one should ever consume sugar.” Yes he uses sugar and salt as needed by the recipe. No, he does not say his food is all 100% “healthy”. But it’s made from scratch with real ingredients, and that is the point. If you follow him and listen, he is a big proponent of moderation and balance. He has lots of dessert recipes, healthy smoothie recipes, salad recipes etc. A wide variety. And his passion is getting people back in the kitchen, taking charge of their own health and learning basic skills like cooking, and growing food, which helps people to be more self reliant and promotes self esteem (conservative values.)
As a conservative I do not believe in telling people how to live their lives, but when we have universal health care that is struggling, I have to wonder how we can better educate people on how to prevent illness and disease through healthier living, as opposed to paying taxes that go into the stressed out health care system, to treat people for the subsequent issues that are being caused with poor lifestyle choices, and over consumption of these sugary drinks and processed foods. AND we are raising a generation of children who do not know any better, or any different, and so therefore are not given the opportunity to decide for themselves. So many children are struggling with diet related disease before they hit puberty. Is a sugar tax or a ban the answer? I don’t see it as something that will deter many people – the cigarette tax doesn’t – but let’s not slam Jamie for being passionate, caring and wanting to do something to make a change. Many people don’t even realize why they are in these situations – education is key.
Ezra – I think as a smart conservative, perhaps you would have some idea about how we can prevent the health care drain by pre-empting the poor lifestyle related illnesses? As I said, I’m not convinced tax or bans will be the answer.

Good show, Ezra. My wife is a Jamie Oliver fan, and was interested to hear how his words disagree with his recipes. I suppose that some of it comes down to self interest for him, as the less sugary drinks one has, the better his food will taste (as a remaining source of sugar in the diet).

Ezra that was a very good show, I have to say the left is starting to gain even more support for their side because of the MSM and the sheep that are surrounded the MSM.

Sobeys and Jamie Oliver are on a mission to bring better food to Canadians.
Sobeys are aggressively peddling a “ Better food for all “ campaign .
Their mission statement is to be a food supplier conscientious of food sustainability, organic produce, seafood that is not from endangered species , fair-trade and affordable food .
When it comes to their meat counter they crow that they are the only major Canadian retailer that offer meats that meet ‘ Certified Humane Standards ‘ ,Sobeys’ ethical shrine to meat products so to speak ~!?!
! Yet they supply , without a soupçon of awkward self-consciousness , ‘ halal ‘ meats ! This type of archaic-ritual-animal-slaughter belies advancements in the humane treatment of animals and rejects the stunning of animals prior to slaughter.Sacrificial meats butcher the animal while conscious , and in the name of the most benevolent most merciful the animal slowly bleeds to death while in pain and distress . Why do we so easily compromise our meat producing ethics for fear of being labelled racist and islamophpbic , we tolerate practices that sully our enlightened ways ….. looking at you Jamie !

Yeah this Muslim guy just happened to be in a military recruitment center to sign up and lo and behold Allah told him to kill people…what a freaky coincidence, eh? No premeditation or anything, eh? You never know when God is going to tell you to do something, eh? Yeah, weird that Allah has been telling some others to kill Canadian, British and American soldiers, eh? Who is this Allah guy, eh? Is he a Hindu or Buddhist leader or a Christian leader, eh? Oh … you say he is a Muslim leader…what a coincidence, eh? Guess there could be some connection between this Allah and the killing of NATO soldiers around the world, eh? No it just can’t be, eh? Must be something to do with eating MacDonald’s hamburgers, eh? But he said Allah told him,eh? Are you calling him a liar,eh? Wow now that is Islamophobic, eh!

How about taking in this unforgettable lecture,eh?

Well, well, what’s in it for him.
What spin off will he get from the government if this ever comes to fruition.
Just another way for the Liberals to tax Canadians.

So what? No hypocrisy at all. He sells stuff with sugar, and also advocates for taxing it. Clearly he’s ready to put his money where his mouth is.

It won’t be long before the government bans all things with sugar in it.

“Christophobic” ? In relation to that which Candace Malcolm was referencing, a better choice of word would have been “(Roman)Catholicismophobic” (much too long, I know). As the word “Islamophobic” is in relation to Islam, the word “(Roman)Catholicismophobic” would be in relation to Roman Catholicism. However to choose the word “Christophobic” misses the intended mark, and point being emphasized, by a country mile: I am quite certain that Christ himself did not go around sexually abusing anyone, and there is zero historical records to even remotely suggest otherwise.

Now if Candace had been referencing the abuses and excesses of Muslim clerics, and had of chosen the word “Muhammadophobic” in relation to same, I doubt I would have commented on this point at all, because there is plenty of historical records to support that claim. And was not Muhammad the first and foremost (number one) cleric, who introduced the religious element of Islam; he it was who showed others the way. And ever since that moment in history, others have followed his lead.

Yes carbohydrates also convert to sugars. These people are insane! How about a tax refund on artificial sweeteners.?

What ever happened to personal responsibility?

a small apple with about 70 calories, it will have about 15 gram of total sugar. If the apple is large and has about 115 calories, it will have about 23 grams of sugar. So in essence if you have a couple of fruit a day and your in the same level of sugar content. So there should be laws to curtail your consumption of fruit & veggies. Here is a little science (I know how dare I)

12 ounces of >>>>>>> Coca-Cola Orange Juice Apple Juice Cherry Juice Grape Juice
Total carbohydrates 40 g 39 g 42 g 49.5 g 60 g
Carbs from sugar 40 g 33 g 39 g 37.5 g 58.5 g
Sugar (teaspoons) 10 tsp 8 tsp 10 tsp 9 tsp 15 tsp
Calories 145 165 165 210 240

As they say in Britain “what a wanker”! I kind of like Jamie his other mission to bring and cook good food is a worthwhile mission but politics is not cuisine.

Lefty’s are now indirectly admitting that Islam is incompatible with the west as they talk about “parallel societies”.
Since we have no way to separate the moderates and the extremists, nor can we guarantee someone won’t convert, the only 100% protection is to not let them in. Period!! And yes, I know some Muslim moderates. I’ll just have to make some new friends. The risk is too high.

The UK are putting an extra tax on Soft Drinks, Sugar and Tampons. They are also reducing the allowance paid to Disabled People. Nice people? The cost of paying for Muslims is proving to much. Is that Islamophobic?

Islamophobia, an invention of the Muslims, is just used by Muslims and people who defend them, as a guilt trip phrase to people who upset them. It is BS. Never be upset by somebody calling you Islamophbic. If you are not concerned about Muslims, I would suggest you read the Quar’an, especially the later verses that supersede the early ones. Look for the juicey ones about decapitating Christians.

A phobia is “a persistent, irrational fear of [fill in the blank]. . . that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.” (Random House Dictionary)

I cannot honestly say that any fear I may have in relation to Islam is irrational. Rather, it is quite rational and reasonable, and well founded. And even Islam’s own authoritative writings, as well as its stringent adherents which live it out on the world stage, validate my understanding, and real concerns I have, of Islam.

So even the term “Islamophobia” is a misnomer. But it works reasonably well for Islamist’s and their supporters and sympathizers. Of course the term “Islamorealist” would be more accurate, but such a word works against those I mentioned, and would deprive them of their feigned indignation while they hurl terse little one worded accusations at you (Islamophobe).

Oh the world in which we live, where the hater and/or liar (etc.) falsely accuses you of doing the hating and lying, and others rally around them in solitary, even proudly joining them in condemning you.

I wonder how many more sins that cross can bear.

Isn’t it amazing that everything the government & their empty headed backers propose to save us from ourselves involves taking money out of our pockets?

Expect the NDP war against Alberta to continue.

“Islamophobia” is very much designed to shut down every sort of debate.

Good show, Ezra.

Could you remove the blurb you have at the end of the subscriber shows that asks for people to purchase a subscription. I can see you having there for the free video clips, but it seems a little pointless for the subscriber shows.
