Changing national anthem for political agenda earns The Tenors backlash from ALL quarters

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

When I first heard the news about the lyric change to O Canada at an MLB All Star game, I thought it must have been a mix-up due to someone giving the wrong sheet music to an American singer.

But no. This was a purposeful mix-up initiated by one member of the Canadian music group, The Tenors.

He made the decision to mix politics with patriotism and is paying a price for it.

The blowback came from all quarters - from the Black Lives Matter supporters who objected and from patriotic Canadians who objected.

This episode shows why it’s never a good idea to mess with the national anthem for a political agenda.

To use Scott’s “logic” then, just because this tenor felt a need to “express himself” then the National Anthem is “toast” as everybody and anybody can insert any little words that they fancy that day?…

I guess I am part of a Fifth quarter that didn’t care that he used the anthem or that he felt called to express himself. So the guy cares that people are free from all the violence. good for him. just leave him alone now. I rather hear him sing some more than hear all the bitching about it.

ROY JEANINE, I refer to this asshole as a selfie king in a derogatory way. There is no way in hell that I would ever consider this POS as a real king of anything other than jumping in front of a camera every chance he gets, even his own.
I don’t even consider him as the PM of Canada, because the election was a farce and worthy of third world dictators – which this POS would really like to be.
So, no, I don’t think he is a king of any sort, just a POS we have to endure until he is flushed down the toilet.

One of the few times I can agree with the “useful idiot”. The egregious behaviour of the boorish singer to use our national anthem to make a political statement should have been called out, but, instead, his leftist friends were freaked out by the singer saying, wait for it, that "all lives matter’.

The singer who changed the lyrics, without even letting his fellow crooners in on his plan, has apologized, but the harm to his reputation is done. A good reminder to all of us to show some respect for a national anthem.

Hi, Marty, I agree we have the absolute worst government at the helm of this country and Alberta and ontariowe. They sure do hate Canadians and taxpayers. But, Marty, I disagree with you on one thing, I will never call him King, trudope is a scum sub-human, regressive garbage who is costing us an extreme amount of money in a short time and he is getting more arrogant everyday. I despise his privileged and entitled ass but he is getting worse, the traiteress msm is totally on his side and he can do no wrong according to those bastards. Sorry I am very angry at Canadians loosing our sovereignty, morals, common sense and freedom. I will never sing O Canada the way these traitorous liberals have changed it. Never.

The Tenors are taking a beating over this, and so they should – one of them anyway.
BUT, what about the Liberals? Did they not change our national anthem just a few days ago? Was it not for political reasons? What kind of backlash are they getting?
They should be facing all kinds of backlash for the blatant disrespect they have shown for Canada and for all Canadians by their changing of the lyrics of O Canada.
I don’t give a damn about some MP that is terminally ill and dying. What the hell has that got to do with anything. There are a lot of people that are terminal and dying in Canada, do they get special treatment from Turdo and his band? If one of them had suggested the anthem be changed would the Lieberals have honored their wish. I highly doubt it, in fact the Turd would have laughed in their face.
So what the hell makes this politician so special – NOTHING, that’s what. The Lieberals have wanted to make changes the our national anthem for a long time and this gave them the excuse they were looking for, two faced liars that they are, they used the sick dying mp for all he was worth.
Just one more asinine act by his majesty the selfie king of Canada, and one more that he will get away with.

Brian, you hit the nail on the head. ALL LIVES MATTER, that’s what I believe, however inserting those words in our national anthem is not the place to air your opinion. Trudeau has already changed some of the words (I will keep on saying "in all thy sons command) & now this buffoonery, pretty soon, we won’t have an anthem at all. The other issue I have is with our flag being desecrated by the LGBT who have created their own version by adding the rainbow colours with the maple leaf in the centre & Trudeau who sees nothing wrong with that as he marches along
with his tongue hanging out. Where the hell is his patriotism?
The Five on Fox News were agreeing with the Tenor, but would have been all over the place if it had been the American anthem, but I guess it’s just us, little Canada!!

John, Jimmy Hendrix didn’t mess with the lyrics of the Star Spangled banner. There is a difference.
This was not a wise decision on the part of this Tenor. Not cool he bastardised our anthem in another country, especially. He may have meant well but he is a twit and he has insulted Canada. The remaining Tenors should give us some statement , an apology to Canada.
I am surprised at Fox News for making light of it.
I’m sure Justin thought it was cool.

The Tenors appearance in London Ontario has already been cancelled. No backlash here!

John Landry said – “Jimmy Hendrix certainly rearranged The Star Spangled Banner and we all celebrate that!”….. For the record John:- certainly NOT ALL OF US….

I was surprised watching a Fox News broadcast where they said what was the big deal, its freedom of speech and it was inclusive. This from the same people that show great displeasure at the burning of the Amercian Flag, though that is also protected. If the American anthem was mangled in that way I wonder if they would have felt the same?

As an aside, it looks like Trudeau may also have to take issue with them as I thought I heard “all thy sons command” rather than the meaningless “all of us command”.

Canada has a national anthem? Next Mr. Lilley will be saying Canada has a constitution that respects individual rights and freedoms!

His intentions were good, so he is to be forgiven. However, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
commented 2016-07-13 16:52:35 -0400
well he certainly got his 15 seconds of fame…
commented 2016-07-13 16:46:04 -0400
Perhaps he (and other leftist liberals) would prefer The Internationale.
commented 2016-07-13 16:17:03 -0400
If he had pulled a similar stunt during the singing of the American anthem, they would have needed an armoured car to get him out of there alive.
commented 2016-07-13 16:16:18 -0400
I wonder if the LGBTQ-ETC. movement would prefer simply ’"God Save the Queen" as our official national anthem?
Sorry…….bad joke.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a symbol of dignity and civility in a society presently plagued by the cancerous disease of multiculturalism and political correctness and neo-Marxism.

These Globalist dupes have no nation – they can’t wait to sell out your birth right to foreign ideologies, foreign racketeers and foreign government.

Taking “liberties” with the national anthem has actually been a growing trend for many years now… While not necessarily changing the words, ragging the anthem and performing it with “personalized” scooby-doo vocal “excursions” has become rampant… That’s why I cringe now whenever a “popular singer” is given the honours of singing it at some nationally televised event like the Olympics… And I think the whole thing started when nobody dared to criticize Ray Charles ragging of the Star Spangled Banner many decades ago… Then it was then thought “cool”… That self indulgent trend has continued unabated…

I think the Tenors are drumming up business for themselves. It was a stupid move and an insult to Canadians.
