Circus back in Ottawa as Mike Duffy trial resumes

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

The trial of the century which began last winter is about to heat up again as the Duffy trial is set to resume on Wednesday August 12th.

I look back to all the excitement at the beginning and how it quickly melted away once journalists didn't see anything that might implicate the Prime Minister. But, all eyes will be focused on the trial anew and every word will be parsed by a media obsessed with this trial, while they continue to ignore any and all transgressions by politicians of any other party.

I do not understand how it is Mr. Harper’s fault that Mike Duffy is now been charged with these 31 charges?
commented 2015-08-13 17:15:27 -0400
What is also odd is if everyone had abandoned Mike Duffy and left him to pay his own bills that he racked up at the tax payers expense, they would still blame Harper for appointing him.

Thomas Mulcair and the media have tried to make it appear as if it was Stephen Harper on trial. Every day they gleefully wonder if any new revelation will emerge that will focus the spotlight on Stephen Harper and lead to his demise. News flash. The R.C.M.P. have already investigated and seen all the emails and interviewed the witnesses and they have not laid charges against Stephen Harper, but during an election campaign it has great smearing capability. They have also been trying to dredge up the non- robo scandal again. Dream on MSM.

I can’t believe the average person cares about the Duffy affair anymore, if they ever did. It’s the sad-sack media party that would like to see it lead to Harper’s demise.

Social media is full of “how much was wright paid to lie” b.s. but the PM remains squeaky regardless.

Onwards and upwards!

The opposition loses again! Wright under oath says Harper didn’t know anything about the repayment.
Too bad but of course they will neve4 accept the facts.

This is where the msm digs their collective heels in to finally taint Harper. I’m afraid dear rebels that this is the tipping point of the election. And the msm are now salivating over this prospect. In the next week I predict harpers poll numbers are going to take a steep dive. Hope I’m wrong

Peter – the msm doesn’t put the Harb story on the front page but it mentions it and everybody knows about it. It’s a guilty leftist secret. That is why we have secret ballots – so Liberals can attack Harper all they want to save face but then go vote Conservative in the privacy of the secret ballot box.

John said, “Even that seems extraordinarily predatory.”

It is.

The MSM will viciously attack any Conservative, whether MP, MPP, Senator or just your average Conservative that has some stature in the community relentlessly on even the smallest and most insignificant of things while ignoring major things done by the leftists like Mac Harb’s 270K theft or the NDP’s 2.7 million or Justin’s many gaffs and idiot statements.

The journalistic principles are repeatedly violated by the main stream media in their quest to get the Conservatives out of office. It is truly disgusting to witness. You cannot trust the main stream media.

Now let us see how long the courts will let the Duffy trial drag on. Probably a long time given the liberal leanings of the lawyer establishment.

Ironic that Aug 10 was the day that Mac Harb was to go to trial for his fraud on housing expenses. He too paid it back, quickly, and bailed into retirement on full Senate pension.
Nobody questioned where he got a quick couple of hundred grand. Not to this day. His name is never mentioned in the media chattering, it is never included in the Duffy, Wallin, Brazeau catchphrase and all the clucking that follows.
Harb, a Liberal senator, has been untouched by the scandal, and strangely has had his trial deferred several times now. He was charged in Feb 2014, same time as Brazeau. He was to go to trial in April, then deferred to Aug 10, and now that is off til 2016. What’s going on?
And no Joan Abernethy, no one is aware. Harb has been swept under the rug from the get go. These things get legs and wings because the media so decides.
They have been chasing the fat man across the lot and up the steps for a very long time. Even that seems extraordinarily predatory.

Wonder how Mulcair would answer if asked about the 2.7 mil. during one of the debates?
I still can’t get my head around the fact that no one is pushing the NDP on this issue. Mulcair of course hopes that if he wins the election this will go away. I hope it haunts him until it is paid back.

Joan, I disagree. The majority of Canadian get their news from the main stream media, so it the MSM does not report on Mac Harb, then the majority of Canadians will not know about Mac Harb. But the bigger issue is that the MSM willing disregards the Liberal senator where that focus all their effort on a Conservative senator. $90,000 vs. $270,000, andf the MSM will ignore the $270,000, just like they virtually ignore the 2.7 million the NDP owe. It is a clear bias that proves the MSM journalists are not honest.

Whether the media focuses on Harb or not, everyone is well aware of his guilt and his party.

Of course Duffy will walk on the residece thing. The rules were unclear. As to the consulting nonsense, as Brian says, we’ll see. He may need to appeal if he wants to walk.

The media may focus on Duffy now and then but there is no way it will take its spotlight off the election candidates. There is simply too much at stake.
