Medicine Hat–Cardston–Warner MP Jim Hillyer was found dead in his office in Ottawa early this morning.

Hillyer, 41, had reportedly not been feeling well as of Tuesday evening.

The state broadcaster claims that his family had contacted Parliament Hill security when they were unable to contact him.

"Jim was a valued and hardworking member of the Conservative team, and a passionate advocate for those he represented," Interim Conservative Party Leader Rona Ambrose said in a statement.

"More than that, he was a dedicated husband and father, and a man of strong faith and conviction. I pray that his and his family's faith will help them through this very difficult time," Ambrose added.

Hillyer was first elected in 2011 and was re-elected in 2015. He had previously survived a battle with cancer in 2003.

God bless his soul, he was a man of honour and there very, very few politicians you can say that about, the majority of politicians are bottom feeders with no morals, no standards and no conscience. God bless his wife, kids and family.

No solutions, just bigotry and stupidity. I’ve finally figured it out. Conservatives (extreme) contards confuse common sense with stupidity.

Mr. Hillyer used to be my mp until the riding changes. Was a good man, my condolences to his family.
Now we have a muzzy sympathetizer from Brooks.

You are one sick SOB.

It is so sad when a good young man dies suddenly, leaving a young family. His faith will probably help others struggling to understand.

A man of faith and conviction, Mr. Hillyer was a staunch pro-life MP and, of course, the only one in his riding. A good man.
Sincerest sympathies to his family.

My condolences to the family. He was only 41!
Hope they call a by-election and not just appoint someone though.
I would like his successor to be chosen by the people, even if it ends up being a crowning. (No way a libtard or Ndipper would win.)
