CPC leadership hopeful Maxime Bernier vows to “end corporate subsidies to Bombardier, GM”

At the Vancouver convention of the Conservative Party, I talked with leadership candidate Maxime Bernier about his free market principles.

Some have called him the libertarian candidate, and sure enough, he says he is dedicated to small government.

I’m with you Jeffrey. Seems like many CPC supporters chose to be forgiving of Harper’s spending increases. Then again, we ran a very moderate government and in the midst of fairly positive economic times, voters chose to try out the old tired liberalism of a talentless boob.

I am sick of “Conservatives” who abandon their principles just to stay in power (I am looking at your 37% increase in spending Stephen Harper!).

Bernier was the only Conservative caucus member who spoke out publicly against the massive spending increases Flaherty and Harper imposed on us.

He is the real deal….and actual conservative! Not a Liberal in a blue tie!

I have not been a member of a party since the Reform Party died. I am joining the Conservative Party just to vote for Bernier. I encourage all real conservatives to do the same.

And please, spare me the anti-Quebec nonsense! A tax cut from Bernier will be just as sweet as one from an Albertan.

Peter, I totally agree. You would think the leftward turn of Alberta would put an end to the east-west division. Quebec is a place I would never want to live, but let’s remember it still produces some good conservative minds. Peledeua for example really gave a shot at bringing conservative news to Canada, and he was from Quebec.

I like Bernier. I am so sick of corporate hand outs that went crazy under the old Liberals and never really went away with the CPC. Bailing out banks, the auto industry, and aerospace is simply just wrong.

Something many of our politicians need to learn – is to never give your enemies your game plan!!
Now, that was my first response to this dudes “speak” – almost like he is warning his own!! The LEFT knows they are phucked and the Trump Train proves my point. Why else would Libtards – being armed to the teeth demand an unarmed citizenry?
Bring it on you Libtard “suicide” idiots! No where in history have Libtards survived – for any length of time. Conservatives have way more blood than you ever had.

There are no Quebec ideas or Ontario ideas or BC ideas; only good ideas and bad ideas. Maxine Bernier has a lot of good ideas. His experience and background also qualify him to be worthy of consideration as a candidate. I don’t understand why the Rebel hasn’t taken him more seriously until now. He supports many of the positions of Rebel commenters such as Ezra Levant, Brian Lilley and others.

One of the things I found disturbing in the past election were comments from some in Atlantic Canada that they would never vote for any candidate for PM who hailed from the west. Now I see the same sentiments expressed by so-called conservatives below. In a healthy country, citizens from any region should be considered eligible for any office, including Prime Minister, based on the quality of their ideas and character.

I am a British Columbian. I certainly consider Maxime Bernier worthy of my support based on his ideas, his demonstrated commitment to those ideas; and his achievements. His dalliance with Julie Coulliard does pose a question about his judgement; but I suspect he has learned his lesson. As a long-time member of the Conservative Party of Canada, Mr. Bernier is near the top of my list of candidates I would consider voting for.

Sounds like a nice guy, and smart $$$$.
Hopefully his involvement with the woman associated with the Hell’s Angels won’t come back to bite him.

I don’t want any more PMs from Quebec either, but it is more likely that he would get the Conservatives party back into power because he is from Quebec … a sad truth.

I’d like to see an honest to goodness hunting and fishing gunning guy for PM. He’d definitely have my vote. Especially if he were a pistol shooter too.

NO MORE QUEBEC POLITICIANS FOR PM….LIKE FOREVER!!!!!

Wish he wasn’t from Quebec.
