Danielle Smith loses PC nomination in riding

Josh SkurnikRebel Correspondent

Former Wildrose leader Danielle Smith lost the PC nomination in Highwood to Okotoks Councillor Carrie Fischer Saturday.

With an election looming, Smith now has no party to run with.

Last December she led eight of her colleagues in a mass exodus to the governing PC Party, leaving the Official Opposition decimated with five MLAs.

It seems that many of you don’t actually know what happened in the last provincial election,, When WRP did not take the election I looked into voting trends to find out what happened,, in total there were about 35 ridings where the vote was quite close with the PCs squeaking by with the victory,, in the case of Calgary-Elbow as an example (Kliens old riding) two elections ago the vote was split quite equally between the PCs and the Liberals with the PCs just squeaking thru with about 5000 votes going Liberal and 5200 votes going PCs ,, then in the last election the WRP took about 4500 votes , PCs took some 5000 votes and the Liberals only about 700 or so,, So what happened ?? it is quite simple actually,, the Liberal voters of the province voted PC simply to keep the WRP out,, The WRP stood for something that was even further right then the right wing PCs and that frightened the Liberals into voting the PCs back in as a block of votes.. This latest fiasco with Danielle moving to the PCs is one hundred percent contributable to Preston Manning ,, he wanted the right to unite so that the Liberals couldn’t come up the middle and take seats ,, and believe me when I say that it was going to happen in some of the ridings,, (Calgary-Elbow would likely have been one of them) However that being said I believe that Manning had it the wrong way,, the true PCs of the PC party should have joined the WRP thus effectively cleaning house of the red Conservatives that have infiltrated the PC party as a whole,, If anyone believes that we are stuck with the “same old same old” then Preston Manning is at fault for it…….

Ken Bulbrook, the Wildrose did not fold. It took a big blow, but they are fully back in the running again. Ready for an election.

Danielle Smith is the Bowe Bergdahl of Alberta politics , Jim Prentice being the equivalent of Obama welcoming home a deserter.

Valerie, 3 others have seen the writing on the wall and have decided not to bother running again, Jason Hale, Rob Anderson, and Bruce Rowe. Only 3 more left to go.

Garry Grams – It’s now 3 down, 6 to go.

Maybe she will fire up the Wild Rose campaign again and tell everyone it was “part of her strategy.”

Maybe we’ll now see Danielle Smith join the PC campaign as an advisor or join the Manning Centre in order to sell Albertans on adopting health care premiums and a sales tax.

if the intention is good for the people in crossing the floor then let her prove that, but if it is for her own, then it is rightful that she stops in politics and be private again…

The way the walkers crossed the floor was wrong. Nothing grass roots to it. If they wanted to merge the parties then the right way would have been the way the Reform and Fed PC party came together. I hope all the former WR walkers get the punt in the next AB election.

Justice has been served. Now of course Prentiss will give you a plum job. Justice not served!!!

And once those 7 lose their PC nominations, hopefully Alberta will vote the Wildrose into office in the next election, kicking the fat arses to the curb to meditate on their “sins”.

One down, eight to go!

Never forget the betrayal!

Justice is served – thank you, voters!

The PC party has demonstrated for many years that they are conservative in name only. If Albertans want a political party that is right of center, then there is really only one choice: Wildrose.

Warren, I am not sure why you bother asking as you clearly have decided already that it is a big bad evil corporation behind this dastardly plan.

I can see your point, because as we all know (esp. the lefties), that all corporations are evil and behind all the evil plans that exist in our big bad evil capitalist society, so obviously there is a big bad evil corporation behind it all … like duh, everybody knows that! All we really need to know is which evil corp is the bad guy in this instance, right?

She was a strong leader who made an enormous miscalculation and paid the ultimate political price. Leave it at that.

I’d love to see a follow up story on what occupations these turncoats land in now. Which corporate giants are the ones paying the way for Prentice to have bribed them? Follow up Please.

For a long time, photos of Smith reveal the light inside her extinguished. Time to move on.

Freedom Rebel – It’s good to see that someone besides me understands Manning.

Well if cynacism was an Olympic sport, Danielle Smith certainly established herself as the record setter for all time. She is a sneaky loathsome little piece of work. But in politics ,people like her , those that have such malleable and transitory values(assuming she has any) sometimes are able to reinvent themselves and find new followers. Lets hope this is the final curtain call on her career.

HAH!!! Take THAT, you treacherous bitch! I think more people voted against Smith than voted for Fischer. But I have no doubt that Prentice will boot someone else out of their seat and give it to her. Let’s hope the people in that riding will do the same as we did in Highwood yesterday. She isn’t loyal to her constituents and doesn’t deserve to be in politics.
The Wildrose leadership was won by an honourable man, Brian Jean. He’ll rebuild the party and make it better than it ever was under Smith.
(Josh – I don’t have sound on this video.)

Her political life is done, hopefully, we have enough people in politics with poor ethics, she follows in Belinda Stronics foot steps.

Sad! Politics sure differs across the provinces. In Ontario, an NDP MP becomes a Liberal MPP and wins a by-election, and few people raise their eyebrows.

Glad to see she got what was coming to her. Call an election Prentice, and we’ll see if we can throw the rest of you bums out as well.

Democracy rules in Highwood!
commented 2015-03-29 09:15:38 -0400
I do so hope the PCs get decimated in the next election. Kick them to the curb nursing boot prints on their fat butts. Third party status for a couple of terms might dislodge that entitlement attitude from their arrogant heads. Forty four years is far too long. Go WIldrose!

Betrayal does have a cost, Smith betrayed the people, her own party, and now it is nice to see that she was not rewarded for her betrayal. It just goes to prove that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

What a power hungry dipshit for crossing the floor.
Looks good on her.
