Earth Day: Pushing end-of-the world hysteria since 1970

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

Remember back in the 1970s, when we were told to prepare for the coming ice age?

The environmental movement has been scaring us with different horror stories for decades, and we're all still here.

I look back at the end-of-the-world scenarios they've been pushing in my lifetime.

Remember the "population bomb"?

Is it any wonder so many of us are skeptical, especially when the UN itself admits there's been no global warming since 1998?

What do you think? Tell me in the comments!

That litterless lunch thing is a complete crock. How does throwing out the garbage at home instead of at school save anything?? My daughter’s eight and she figured that one out on her own… what’s the Ministry of Education’s excuse?

Parents, make sure you deprogrammed your kids when they come home with this crap. I talked to my kids for years about what they learned in school. I’m happy to report they all grew up able to think for themselves with a critical mind. They are also much more successful compared to a lot of there peers who I’m afraid have trust issues. They have come to the realization that they were taken advantage of by teachers and other adults to push an agenda that was not real. Many are confused when it comes to the truth and have trouble engaging in constructive dialogue. Always seeming to push there beliefs onto others without having any substantial proof that what they are pushing is based on any kind of logical fact. Sad when the people we are supposed to trust and believe in,use you for a propaganda tool to there own end.

I agree Ron. To put the planet before humanity is atrocious

PETER NETTERVILLE, “But what about those who do not benefit from those grants, but just end up paying the bill in the form of taxes. What is their excuse for falling for this global warming crap?” Can you say “CBC”?
commented 2015-04-23 09:28:14 -0400
Yup. High time to put the “un” in front of UN.

Peter Babich you have a point. What you mentioned is a real pollutant, a real issue as are many other pollutants.

This global warming scam is far more dangerous that just sucking billions from the western nations, it facilitates allowing the issue of real pollutants to go unaddressed. The money that should be spent on cleaning up and controlling real pollutants is being spent on controlling carbon dioxide. In addition to that it makes the politicians feel they are addressing a real climate issue when in fact they are causing more harm by not addressing the real issue.

In some sort of twisted sense I can fathom why those who benefit from the global warming scam push their lying rhetoric, because they receive cash in the form of grants to implement a technology or do research. Greed. But what about those who do not benefit from those grants, but just end up paying the bill in the form of taxes. What is their excuse for falling for this global warming crap?

Glo-Bull Warming – Big CrockA Shy___e! Too bad a lot of people have bought into this crap. Inculcating little kids with this bull should be against the law but we already have too many laws as it is. This country has spent way too much money on fighting what amounts to a hoax. It’s pretty sad really. Should the developing solar minimum turn out as scientists suggest it will and be a deep one we may be left scrambling, especially in Canada, to stay warm and keep the streets clear of snow. The Maritimes could become unliveable. Glo-Bull warming? I don’t think so. Spew out all the CO2 you want cause it won’t make a bit of difference to the climate. But hey – that’s just my $0.02.

The few things bad? Controlling the FDA, 90% of the worlds farms, dumping PCBs into the water systems, not only have cancer rates increased 300% since their inception they had to have Obama institute the Monsanto act to avoid prosecution. They manufacture the cancer agents and manufacture the pharmaceuticals to treat the disease. Capitalism at its finest.

@dennis KRUPSKI . . . . The IPCC is a Political Body . . . and they have been consistently WRONG now for over 20 years . . . . and the truth is . . . There is NO 97%, it was made up from a bogus survey.

Old Liz once again demonstrates she has no clue . . . Canada’s Al Bore . . . lol

The Klimate Scam has been sucking 10s of Billions out of western economies for over 2 decades . . . the “Alarmists” are living large, but still refuse to debate with real scientists. Why do you suppose that is?
The Teachers’ Unions are indoctrinating our children using the Marxist model as did Lenin and Castro.

Did I mention that TODAY . . . Earth Day . . . is ole Vladimir Lenin’s Birthday? He would be 145 today if he was still alive.
Why do you think the Earth Worshippers picked this day as “Earth Day” ? Were they just foolish . . . or are they fans?

Global cooling, global warming, ozone shrinking, ozone expanding… politics, politics, politics. Oh, sorry, “science”. (ahem! Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight…) Cherry-picked data, insufficient data, wrong data… oh, we haven’t been looking at this thing long enough… (you mean you’ve been looking too closely at too little to see the big picture of what’s REALLY going on…) How many times have we been told “scientific reports” that tell us this is bad for us, that is linked to some possibility of some disease… oh, now we find out there’s no link, and that thing is actually good for you… Too specific, not general enough. It’s not “science”. We’re told it is, and at its core it might be, but it has become political activism in all aspects of our daily lives. Yes, I remember the panic about “the coming ice age”, and comic-type handouts to schoolchildren predicting the scare of even hamburger being $10/lb (this was back in ‘74 — it STILL ain’t that high!). When was the last time anybody heard about the condition of the hole in the ozone layer over the poles? Can’t be all that bad, then, can it? Everything cycles, but that’s too big a picture for the scientists, and an unfathomable concept to the political activist…

Hope I’ve not given the impression that the whole scenario ticks me off somewhat… ;)

I am on the fence about Monsato, Fraser. I’d like to know what I am eating and want it labelled, which they stubbornly fight against. This new thing with the yellow rice, infusing white rice with vit. A , supposedly saving children’s lives in third world countries. I;m not buying it. 1) vit A is toxic in high amounts, and 2) I do not believe local natural sources cannot be produced. I wonder if we have not done more damage by " helping". Dumping food into areas where if they were helped with their own production, would be better off. This interference seems to kill local agi. Small farmers cannot make a living because of this food dumping. That is a bit of a digression. I absolutely refuse to buy brociflower.

For earth day I took a road trip in my car.

Probably the best response to the endless supply of official worriers and paranoids is just defensive cynicism. Here’s some off the most rational cynicism I’ve heard yet on the “earth savers” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjmtSkl53h4

Without companies like Monsanto you would be starving for the few things bad they have done they have done more good to feed the world and bring employment get and education

Yes, it is snowing here in Alberta today too. It is all Harper’s fault. He pulled Canada out of Kyoto and in so doing caused global warming and doomed us all.

Don’t be fooled by it snowing, that means it is global warming. And if the temperature is warm out, then that is absolute proof that the planet is warming. So, people get with the fraud . . . I mean, get with the program and fall to your knees and worship Al Gore and David Suzuki, oh and the UN too, and Obama, and Justin wants to be worshiped too!

Humans are adaptable. The Bilderberg society and Monsanto have done more to jeopordize our existence than we could do to ourselves. The earth will be fine if we could rid ourselves of incredibly greedy and corrupt

“I would back Canada leaving the UN permanently.”

Yup. Me too.
commented 2015-04-22 20:10:49 -0400
The UN was intended to be a viable way for countries to settle disputes. That is why Canada was a Peace keeper. Canada would get in the way of the bullets for world peace. The UN is so corrupt now, it is no longer resolving disputes. It now wants to rule our lives. I would back Canada leaving the UN permanently.

Those proclaiming doom used to be portrayed as carrying sandwich boards through the pages of comics. Objects of fun. The first doom theory I remember reading was the idea about the buildup of ice on Antarctica that would swirl the world violently off its position destroying all life on earth. That was over 6 decades ago and there has been no end to these bizarre speculations. It must amuse some people to invent such terrifying events. What is the source of such feelings I wonder?

There is a major difference between the IPCC Report On climate change and the IPPC Sumary for Policy Makers. The data, numbers and facts are contained in the report, while the Summary For Policy makers is cherry picked distorted data and political rhetoric for the Marxist agenda of the UN. The 97% may agree in principal with the report, but that is not the case for the Summary. Unfortunately the only thing the media and progressive pundits report on is the summary, so the public is not aware of the the true facts. For anyone interested enough the files can be downloaded from the web site http://www.ipcc.ch/report/ar5/wg1/.
