Why environmental extremism poses a real threat to Canada

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

There's a lot of talk today about the government's new database on terrorism.

We're right to focus on Islamic terrorism but we also need to remember that the environmental movement also includes radicals who advocate violence in the name of Planet Earth.

For example, the book Deep Green Resistance (which was co-authored by a Canadian) advocates assassinations and other acts of terror in order to sabotage the oil and gas industry.

Progressives and the media will try to convince you that they environmentalists are all peaceful and non-violent, but that isn't true. An underground offshoot of the movement exists and has already carried out attacks in Canada.

Terry Rudden, where have you been, hiding in a hole? Environmentalism and terrorism have been linked together in the media for close to 50 years, both left and right. And as far as being a “back-channel” for the government, I would take a real hard look at Rebel Media’s financials vs. the CBC (oh wait, the CBC refuses to release its detailed financials) before making such an ignorant statement.
Besides which, have you even read Bill C-51? I highly doubt it. But I have, and I challenge you to point to a specific section that “silence[s] environmental activists”.

Interesting. Opponents of C-51 argued that its provisions would be used by the government to silence environmntal activists, and were assured that that was not, of course, the case. Within two weeks of the Bill’s passing third reading, Rebel Media, unofficial back-channel for the Conservative government, begins linking environmentalists and terrorism.

Peter: Bobby Joe Rogers, who bombed the American Family Planning Clinic in Pensacola, Florida, with a Molotov cocktail. There are quite a few. Would you like some more?

Shocking! DGR, the communist wannabes’ of the 21st century. It’s not about climate or environment. It’s about socialist slavery and domination.

Thank you Brian, I’d never heard of Deep Green Resistance before, but you prompted me to do a quick internet search. I’m still getting over my shock. How such an organization is even permitted to operate is absolutely insane. At best, one might argue that the DGR is just a fanatical cult, but I would say that it crosses the line into terrorism.
From my first glimpse of the website, my jaw was on the floor. The DGR actively promotes a form of resistance it calls “Decisive Ecological Warfare” (DEW) — underground military tactics derived from the strategies observed in revolutionary insurgencies and terrorist groups. Phase I of DEW requires “©ommunications and propaganda operations […] for outreach and to spread information about useful tactics and strategies”.
Phase II is even more insidious. “In this phase, the resisters might attempt to disrupt or disable particular targets on an opportunistic basis […] Resisters may go after particularly egregious targets—coal-fired power plants or exploitative banks.” DGR and other “aboveground activists in particular take on several important tasks. They push for acceptance and normalization of more militant and radical tactics where appropriate. They vocally support sabotage when it occurs. More moderate advocacy groups use the occurrence of sabotage to criticize those in power for failing to take action on critical issues like climate change (rather than criticizing the saboteurs). They argue that sabotage would not be necessary if civil society would make a reasonable response to social and ecological problems, and use the opportunity and publicity to push solutions to the problems. They do not side with those in power against the saboteurs, but argue that the situation is serious enough to make such action legitimate, even though they have personally chosen a different course.”
In Phase III, the “resisters step up from individual targets to address entire industrial, political, and economic systems. Industrial systems disruption requires underground networks organized in a hierarchical or paramilitary fashion […] Systems disruption is aimed at identifying key points and bottlenecks in the adversary’s systems (electrical, transport, financial, and so on) and engaging them to collapse those systems or reduce their functionality.”
Finally, Phase IV requires the dismantling of “critical physical infrastructure required for industrial civilization to function” and calls for its members to “[i]nduce widespread industrial collapse, beyond any economic or political systems” and “[u]se continuing and coordinated actions to hamper repairs and replacement.”
So, basically, the DGR wants to destroy industrial civilization, and endorses propaganda, sabotage, and underground, paramilitary terrorist cells who do the dirty work while the DGR (it claims) merely engages in “peaceful” discourse — pushing for normalization and justification of militant tactics, where the DGR deems “appropriate”, and shifting the focus and blame from the terrorists themselves to governments and “those in power”.
Then, I clicked on “Who We [DGR] Are”, and read this:
“The goal of DGR is to deprive the rich of their ability to steal from the poor and the powerful of their ability to destroy the planet […] DGR is an aboveground organization that uses direct action in the fight to save our planet. We also argue for the necessity of an underground that can target the strategic infrastructure of industrialization. […] Which means that the different branches of a resistance movement must work in tandem: the aboveground and belowground, the militants and the nonviolent, the frontline activists and the cultural workers.”
On the Campaigns page of the DGR website, I found the following:
“We maintain a firewall between our members and any groups or individuals who may be engaged in underground action. For an explanation of why this is necessary, see our Security page.” The Security Page was essentially a primer on “Security Culture”; an instruction manual for anyone involved in illegal actions with an underground group not to talk to police (ever), and more importantly, not to snitch on their “comrades”. The Security Culture pamphlet for activists states: “Remember – there is no excuse for turning in comrades to the police – and those activists that do effectively excommunicate themselves from our movements. We must offer no legal or jail support to those activists who turn in others for their impact on our movement is far-reaching and can have devastating effects.”
And finally, on the DRG Blog, I found the following: “Political Prisoners – May Birthdays. Send a birthday card to these political prisoners. It’s an easy way to help remind these freedom fighters they aren’t forgotten.” According to the DRG, Ted Kaczynski (aka the Unabomber) is a “political prisoner” whose birthday should be celebrated.

Even the cesspool of leftist corrupt, the UN, has now admitted that an international Marxist agenda to overthrow the capitalist free market system is at the core of environmentalism.

Also reported by IBD:
U.N. Official Reveals Real Reason Behind Warming Scare Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.

Joan Abernethy = “All terrorists violate our Criminal Code, whether motivated to kill for Islam, pro-life, or the environment. They all threaten our security and must be vigorously opposed.”

Please name for me a pro-life terrorist.

Eco-terrorists. That term has been dismissed and fought against by those on the left for quite some time now. But it is a term that is not only accurate, but prophetic, when looking at the actions and proposals of these eco-terrorists. I use that term often, in every exchange that I have with these activists. It angers them, and that’s good. I know it angers them, because they either don’t want the truth revealed, or they are blind to that truth and are one of the useful idiots.
