Zellers – Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Treated people the same way Bell does. Not required in Canada.

Walmart fkd Target’s supply chain (ergo empty shelves) and that ended Target in Canada. Target nicely fkd their Canadian vendors and real estate companies on the way out. Target went too big too fast and Walmart knew what to do next. If Target had approached Canada like Marshall’s did, it would have still been here. Lowe’s had the same problem getting real estate – Home Depot fkd them good. But Lowe’s is coming back. Now that Lowe’s has a position, it can scoop up Rona closures. Slower process, better staying power.

Well that settles it…send all those damned motor driven ships to India to get broken and bring back a fleet of square riggers. Funny how this doesn’t get much more than local coverage when it’s Liberal Party oil that gets spilled.

Emily Prat: why are you bouncing up + down? Is this ‘Rap’ reporting?

They need a diving team to search the hull for the leak or what caused the leak. It is a big ship so a team of divers will have to be put together as no one on top searching has a clue. Also check for a drainage valve as the fuel could have taken on water at some part of the voyage. Draining contaminated fuel tanks is a nono in any port with huge fines to cover the cost of clean up.

Christie is really a duplicitous little thing. I heard her on the radio, really dramatic, how disappointed she was. She knows she has to get natural gas happening in BC, but she panders to the other side. She will say any damn thing you want to hear. Remember those chatty cathy dolls, well anyway, you pulled a cord at the back of her neck, and she would speak 7 or 8 phrases, eventually they would repeat. Thats Christie.

Liza — it was bunker fuel, and the ship was on its maiden voyage to haul grain to Japan. Just like with anything new, there are bugs and problems, and it appears something let go and spilled this fuel into the bay.

Now, the mayor complaining about the “slow reaction time”… it was hours, not days or weeks. What is he expecting, that something gets done immediately? Talk about unrealistic. And to blame Harper for this “slow response time”… Yep, he’s a leftie, with lots of politicking and hot air, and no real clue. Vancouver has enough shipping that it should be covering its own problems, not relying on the BC government or the Coast Guard for this kind of cleanup. But hey, that would cost Vancouver money…

I sure would like to hear the details of this spill. They don’t seem to be known yet. Was it tanker fuel or oil from the hold? There doesn’t appear to have been any collision, so how does that much fuel/oil leak into the ocean from a sitting tanker?
