@joe Boudreault………..:-) Nothing personal Joe…I’ve got a collegue at the gun range who drives a Prius and loves to lecture me about my Wrangler……fortunately …neither one of us has had to keep a kidney dialysis appointment in a blizzard yet…..I would come to his aid in spite of what he has said to me…even knowing he couldn’t come to mine even if he wanted to…..:-)

However….the last car I owned was a Toyota ECHO….50mpg and a nice commuting car…even kept up with the pack on the Ontario 401 the two trips I took to London Ontario from the east coast. But gas milage is a function of weight…and weight is a function of how flimsy the vehicule is…..I could have more than made up the gas savings in repairs because infrastructure just isn’t maintained the way it should be.

Now I know that “deisel” locomotives are actually deisel engines turning an electric generator that supplies electric servo motors driving each individual wheel….and using the brakes to counterspin flywheels that recharge a battery are really good ideas….I’m just waiting to see if initial cost plus maintenence over the eigth to ten years I try to get out of a car puts you ahead…it just didn’t seem likely to me.

Do you know how far you could run a Stanley Steamer on a ton of coal? I hope some steampunk engineer comes up with a retro Stanley Steamer that runs on raw unprocessed Alberta oil sand and just have places to drop off the ashes where you fill up….it’s GOT to be cheaper…….:-)

Darned alternative engineers just can’t think outside the solar panel.

So they really are fake!!!

I forget to mention: Living in southeast Alberta, I own a Prius (Glenn Craig please take notice) and I KNOW that the energy saved by it over its lifetime is far bigger than the energy used to make it. Far greater. So I go out and plug it into the ground. There’s plenty of energy down there, y’know? And the best part is, over at the other side of my lot I see these clouds of CO2 coming out of the ground and the plant life all around is so much greener and healthier! Now, if I could just get rid of all that bad gas coming out of the mouths of climate change idiots, we’d have a great planet. Oh well…

Well.. in the same way, Sheila, no real science ever shows up at these conferences.

What makes me nervous is the Canadian Native presence at the UN meetings, it would be very bad indeed if the UN had support from any Native band here in Canada.

That would be another major division line for us, we have to many divisions already.

A house divided can not stand.

You are right, Roger, Canada must get out of the UN.

Brian Lilley is a strong advocate for that … actually I think all TheRebel have misgivings about the UN.

Problem is, with Justine “The Feminist Muslim wannabe” TrueDope in office withdrawing from the UN will never happen. Just the opposite, he wants to give as much authority over to the UN as possible. That man has to go before he destroy Canada entirely.

I hope that every Canadian understands by being a signatory member of the UN means they have the right to send in UN soldiers into Canada to quell any uprising they deem fit too, that is no joke!
commented 2016-11-18 07:32:16 -0500
Anything connected to the UN is a sham, Canada must get as far away as possible from it, the amount of tax payer money our Government is handing over to them is obscene, it must stop.

@shebel Raj…..?….huh? I’m not shooting down Sheila Gunn Reid…..OH!….You must mean Prissy Prius….

Prissy Prius is a feminist rhymes-with-grunt. I drive a Jeep Wrangler because I live way down the far end of Four Wheel Dr.

And we wonder why the UN wants no media present at their love-ins.

Truly funny, at the 0:59 mark the car charger nearly tips over. I doubt any of them are functional, that would explain the no show of cars.

Honestly—-Glen Craig— do you have the Nerve to shoot down that little Lady?

There comes a time when we no longer have to put up with utopian ,leftist shit. I don’t know what they think is going to happen in the Real World. . But—- It is gonna happen.

This makes me think of the time Edmonton Transit encouraged the mayor and council to actually take a bus one day, only 3 did, one who always took it, the other who lived a few blocks away and Kerry Diotte(former Sun reporter and actual sensible person). The mayor and the rest could not be bothered to ride even once after years of attacking cars and pushing transit for the little people.

I doubt that any electricity would flow from that phony false idol.
commented 2016-11-17 22:32:42 -0500
SHEILA , I suggest , that you come home and shower off all that sand and hipocracy and pack your bags and go on a relaxing ocean cruise with people of common sense of like mind
commented 2016-11-17 21:41:34 -0500
Correction…90kw would power 1000 lightbulbs…..so the electrical draw is a very dubious advantage…..:-)
commented 2016-11-17 21:37:15 -0500
It takes a ton of metalurgical grade coal to make a Prius. Horsepower can be converted into watts of electricity…

1 HORSEPOWER= 745.7 watts

so

the 121 horsepower PRIUS requires roughly 90Kw ….about the energy requirement of an incandesent lightbulb….sounds good…except

If you are using oil products to get there….octane is more efficient and cleaner than deisel and is no comparison to the bunker C that fuels electric power stations most places outside Quebec and Ontario…and you burn less octane if you use it in an internal combustion engine.

Never let the TRUTH destroy a good Socialist narrative.
commented 2016-11-17 21:12:42 -0500
This was Morocco where I believe NO electric or hybrid car exist.
Even in Canada where in every metropolitan city an electric car charging station is provided in almost every parking lot I’ve yet to see even a single car getting charged on those stations. As much as we see the bicycles in the bike lanes around the city.
commented 2016-11-17 21:00:10 -0500
That is soo good Sheila—- haha—- could Not be Better. I am not sucking up here - I just think that it hilarious.l
commented 2016-11-17 20:01:53 -0500
The phony charging stations go hand in hand with the whole “phony” man-made climate change scam.

Another sustainability Potemkin village – typical, predictable.

Good one!

Of course the energy required required for something self contained and mobile to run air-condition in the desert needs a reliable energy source. Just like vehicles in N. Alberta requiring self contained heat during December through mid-March.

Ain’t going to be any elites in the desert sacrificing air conditioning than Alberta Non-Democratic Party MLA’s sacrificing heat in their vehicles next month. Except the invisible energy minister, who I am sure has converted her’s and all her in-law’s in electric farm equipment.
