EXCLUSIVE: The Rebel's David Menzies' eyewitness account of Garland, Texas attack

Rebel Staff

Our own David Menzies is back safe and sound from Garland, Texas, where he'd gone to cover Pamela Geller's "Draw Mohammed" free speech event.

He brings us exclusive video shot before and after the foiled terror attack on the art exhibit.

Menzies describes the amazing security that was in place around the conference center. It was certainly a "hard target," surrounded by a huge police and security presence in advance of the event.

He tells us about the heroic police officer who killed the two heavily armed terrorists, using only with his service revolver.

Menzies describes the mood inside the building as inspirational, as attendees prayed and spontaneously sang "The Star Spangled Banner."

Plus you'll examples of the art that was on display at the exhibition, which included drawings of Mohammed made by Muslim artists throughout the centuries.

You won't see a report like this in the mainstream media!

Training with the AK-47 at ISIS camps seems to consist mostly of shooting unarmed mannequins at point blank range…emphasis on when lying down. Long range marksmanship consists of “spray and pray” five times a day….:-)

James Small….five football fields is the range of an AK-47 when used in “spray and pray” mode and is typical of the engagement range it is used in battle. Your confusion is rooted perhaps in your unfamiliarity with firearms or with assuming TV fight choreography depicts reality. I can hit a five inch bulls eye at that range without using a bipod or scope. Every Saturday this summer I will be practicing at three football fields, five football fields, and six football fields in preparation to enter tournaments at those ranges and at eight football fields as well. There is a more experienced member of my club who will be competing at ten football fields. Hope that clarifies your confusion. The man who dispatched these “holy warriors” with a hand gun was indeed heroic because he had to close to within 50 yards to do that .

Glad that David Menzies is safe and sound. I’m also glad that we have people like Pamela Geller and David Spencer as well as Ezra to show that we’re not taking the constant attempt of the Islamic/sharia takeover of our countries lightly by pretending that it isn’t happening. That we’re not going to lay down and let them slowly take over our democratic countries and turn it into a third world butcher supremacy state like the middle east. We need more events like this and more coverage of them. It’s a shame that in order to have an event like this one it has to be heavily guarded by police for fear of people getting killed which shows that the corrosion of freedom here is already happening.

Very good report Ezra and Menzoid. You should have Robert Spencer on for an interview or a clip sometime soon. Good man.

James Small, Do you think maybe Menzies used the football fields analogy to exaggerate the fact that security at the event was so tight that no one exiting the building ever became a viable target? Clearly they invaded the security perimeter well enough to shoot and wound a security guard.

We know, including from Islamic State who has taken credit for the attack, that the gunmen targeted the event. And security assessments show Geller and Spencer and Wilders are always hig-risk targets for jihadi attack.

Very interesting report, David and Ezra,

You guys scooped all the MSM, with a reporter on the inside, who wasn’t there to smear and condemn the event. Great job!

Good report and thank you, wish I could have been there. The media is completely shameful.

Sounds like that policeman with the pistol, is quite the marksmen and well trained. Hats off to him.

Good scoop, smart going down there.

I’m confused.

Menzies says that the gunmen didn’t get within five football fields distance (that’s about 1,800 feet, or about a 3rd of a mile) away from the event, yet Ezra and others are saying that the event itself was under attack, and even said that Geller herself was attacked by terrorists.

How could it be known or assumed that this event was under attack when the gunmen were not capable of realistically threatening the event when they were shot and killed??

David, I look forward to more in depth reporting of the conference. I’m glad everyone is safe. Kudos to the cop who stopped the 2 terrorists.
