Former PC MLA: Jason Kenney “not a good fit” for Alberta PC leader

Rebel Staff

Not everyone is excited about Jason Kenney's entry into provincial politics. Former PC MLA David Quest joined me to explain why he doesn't support Kenney's decision to run for leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party.

PS: Our Premium Members get exclusive access to my full-length show -- as well as to our other great programs hosted by Faith Goldy, Gavin McInnes, Lauren Southern and Tiffany Gabbay. PLUS there are NEW shows in the works.

I actually opposed the merger federally because I knew in 2003 that the merged party would be ruled by the Alliance side. PCs should have their own party to add variety and to ensure that the right wing does not take over such a party. Progressives that are centre-right will not have a strong voice in such a party.

Also, abandoning the centre to centre-right will create a situation where it will be hard to fill certain gaps in the spectrum which we are seeing federally.

I want and think that a centralist party between fringe parties can be useful to bridge the gaps and give policies that most people will want.

As for federal politics, I ran in 2011 for the Progressive Canadian party, a true successor party of the old PC party now under the leadership of Sinclair Stevens. The party has been around and it opposed the merger of the PC party with the Alliance party which was to guarantee of the Conservatives in power, and I am glad that they lost in the fall of 2015. Now, in federal politics, the Conservatives will have to either understand why they were thrown out of power and hopefully they moderate or they will have to spend a long time in opposition.

I hope that the Progressive Canadian party can hold that gap between the Liberals and the Conservatives so that there is truly a viable alternative to both of those parties.

Our party is found at http://pcparty.org.

We do exist and Canadians deserve a responsible and moderate conservative and one-nation conservative alternative to the neocon Conservative party and the entitled Liberals. In fact, I would argue both the Liberals and Conservatives are entitled and feel they deserve power all the time.

When will Rebel ever take responsibility for themselves.

Progressive Conservatism is what Sir John A. wanted for Canada.

Anyone declaring that Canada should be for populist conservatism, libertarianism, continentalism, and free trade is copying the US model and abandoning Canadian Conservatism as defined from 1867 to 2003.

I agree with you Andrew in that this Kenney factor is about being an MP while trying to merge two parties into one. Kenney was part of the CTF in his early to mid 20s and then remained in politics and then most likely till he retires. That is the very definition of a careerist.

Canadians are for the most part centrist and why they elected the Liberals. I want the PCs to exist in Alberta because it is better to have more choices and I joined the federal Progressive Canadian party at http://pcparty.org because I think there is a huge gap between the Liberals and the Conservatives.

The same impact, Andrew, will happen provincially in Alberta. The centre to centre-right should never be sacrificed at any level because it will mean a takeover by the right wing.

It has nothing to do with being slightly progressive and moderate conservative, but to me it means abandoning the moderate right for the populist right for so-called principles when those are talking points.

This is the game Rebel wants to play but think of the Progressive Conservatives or one-nation conservatives that will go to the Alberta party. That party should be making the preparations just in case.

And yet no one Rebel is complaining about Kenney holding down an MP’s salary and running for PC leader all for merging. Talk about being a pig at the trough.

Also, NDP Sucks the NDP are social democratic and no doubt third way Blairists meaning third way centrists that are far from even being social democratic.

I do not expect someone like you to know what ideology is and most neocons and populists do not know anything about variants.

The fact is the PCs had to become Red Tories in order fund a lot of the projects and services because of the structural deficits created by the Ralph Klein PCs. That is the honest truth about the Progressive Conservatives and why they had to moderate.

Progressive conservatism by its definition has always been fiscally responsible and socially progressive dating back to Sir John A. This is not hard to believe. People like Levant, Lilley and the rest want us to follow the US model but we should have our own nation and our own ideologies on what defines Canada.

Also, the NDP were much more democratic socialist under the NDP in the 70’s and the 60’s under the Trudeau days and being pushed to the left.

The PC party in Alberta is so contaminated with grafters, rent seekers, opportunists and reds it should be dissolved an rebuilt with an eye to ideological and ethical purity. I doubt Kenny can revive the party. He would be better off running for WR and merging the blue PCs into that party and giving it organizational polish.

David Quest. Another PC rat that needs to be tossed overboard. This clown doesn’t know what the PC games is. Well David old chum, it is and has been about Liberals pretending to be Conservatives and that game is just about done. The new sport right now is Jason Kenney is going to toss all of you turncoats where you belong.

The communists and socialists are getting very worried and that is a good thing. Watch them lie through their rotten teeth and scurry around and hide like little rats.

Wishful thinking by the “useful idiot”!

The Problem isn’t Kenney, the problem is that life is complex and some Conservatives are not Socially conservative, and some are not Libertarians and some are no Fiscally conservative, and some just want lower taxes, and some want economic managers, and some like Military and some are tree hugging Oil hating but other wise conservative and others are all for Oil sands but want to be as clean as possible without wasting money on schemes and carbon credits.

To suggest that one party can pigeon hole everything for every conservative voter is insane.
If we had some sort of political system that could elect finance ministers and Education ministers and Health ministers separately and they could be like a governor of Education lets say, then you could parse apart a party but even then, you would have divergence. Federally though that would change everything. Imagine if the PM didn’t appoint the defense minister or finance minister. That the Public gave them that office. Wow that would change the shape of Gov’t.
So since our system expects one guy to have all the right answers, I think we will have to pick from the cream of the crop and settle for some losses. I personally want a social conservative in power no matter the province and in the federal Gov’t. I see Justin and Cathy Whynee as perverts destroying our country Kenney is a God send by a country mile compared to those losers, and Alberta with their screw up in power should be excited that they can get kenney, and kenney excited to serve.

Who was David Quest? He was one of those P/C lap dogs with as much influence and name recognition in the former government as the current crop of yappy lap dogs have in the current Non-Democratic Party government.

Knives are out!

Disarray on the Right = NDP re-election.

All the whiners from the PC party are stomping their feet, which makes me think that Jason is just the man for the job. All those liberals hiding in the PC party will be outed and they know it. I hope Jason gives them all he’s got, and wipes the floor with them.

With his facial expressions (what’s with the eyes rolling back?) and grimaces (in full-length show) Quest gave the impression that he was very uncomfortable (as if he had chosen the short straw) being on Ezra’s show and being interviewed by Ezra. Don’t know if it was intentional, but at about the 32:50 mark in the full-length show a photo of Sandra Jansen was superimposed over Quest’s face. In any event, probably appropriate as it appeared that Quest was not serious about running for the leadership of the PC party, but rather his quest for coming on the show, as uncomfortable as it might have been for him, was to be a mouthpiece (a troll as you say Keith), giving his pitch on behalf of the likes of Jansen.

Former PC MLA David Quest is just a troll who wants to drag this drama out for 10 years while the Nazi-DP financially slaughters Alberta.

Unless you have a solution, stop bitching and FUCK RIGHT OFF DAVID QUEST!!!!
