Generation Trudeau: Is Remembrance Day inclusive enough?

David MenziesMission Specialist

Is Remembrance Day inclusive enough? Everyone is familiar with the traditional red poppy, and there is of course the white poppy worn by peaceniks so why not have a variety of other poppies for other groups?

Watch as I ask students at Ryerson University how they feel about the idea of having new and improved poppies for feminism, LGBT community, Islam, Black Lives Matter, etc.

Poppy seeds can lie dormnt in the earth for decades and then germenate when the earth is tilled. In Europe’s wars soldiers graves always brought a bumper crop of poppies. It is one of the most apt symbols we have.

Sadly this flower has found a synbiotic propagation strategy with human kind, their seeds are abundatly there in the ground waiting for the next bumper crop awakening.

May those butoniers make us mindful of this cycle. They are the earth’s outcry for being made to drink the blood of her children.

They sang “in all thy SONS command"

That is the Canada that I remember and that I love and the next real prime minister that we have and I do mean a real one would change the lyrics back to when they were perfect and so was our country.!!

I think TRUMP winning the election is having an osmosis effect

A shoutout to the citizens of ARMSTRONG B C where I go for remembrance ceremonies, my mothers home town
My mom and dad met after they both joined up
In fact if it wasn’t for hitler I and my brother and sisters wouldn’t be standing up and walking around on earth

Thank you uncles Albert Hicken and Stewart Hicken who gave their lives at the Battle of The Somme 1916. And Wally Betts in the Korean War you will be remembered as long as I live.

I think SJWs and assorted PC wanks should be wearing a BROWN poopy er, ah, I mean poppy – Brown poppies seem more apropos of their narrative.

Betcha those students don’t need a ‘safe space’.

Good to hear. My bet is that all these students shown are studying subjects that require critical thought: maths, physical science, engineering, nursing, etc. Definitely not students of subjects that frown on critical thought: education, social work, sociology, etc.

The white poppy, happily, seemed to go extinct this year. Did anyone else come across it or stories about it?

It is about those who nobly sacrificed , it is not about specific groups being appeased. If you do not wish to honor them, then don’t, do not assume to demand things from those who do pay their respects and love their freedoms.
