Green energy plan to reduce traffic congestion? It's really "a tax on driving"

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

We've got a collection of pointy heads telling us we need more taxes again in a report from the self-styled Canadian Ecofiscal Commission, along with far too many progressive politicians across the country who will be only too happy to implement those taxes and fees on us.

They think the reason far too many people continue to drive is because it doesn't cost enough and they're prepared to do something about it.

But, it already costs us plenty to drive as I explain in my report.

Those pushing a green agenda don't really care though because it costs them nothing to test out their useless theories even if it costs you everything.

How about a tax on bikes, ATV and other off road vehicles as they use the roads and don’t pay a dam thing. And don’t think they don’t because we all know they do, they just don’t get caught! These taxes on driving will affect the SENIORS. Thanks TRUDOPE!!

I demand a walking tax. Yeah, you heard me, a walking tax. When you ad up all us drivers pay in taxes (Brian left out taxes on insurance, maintenance, repairs, the vehicle purchase etc), it comes out to about 5k a year. I want a walking tax of 5k yr, (minus bus and taxi receipts) for anyone that doesn’t own a car.
Trudon’t campaigned on getting cities moving. Greater time at home with the family etc. Really? This is so typical of Lefty policy. It always does the OPPOSITE of what it’s intended to do. And yet, the Lefty’s never learn. Either the Lefty’s are “incapable or learning”, or, as Brian says, it’s simply about control. Telling everyone how to live. You have to be psychotic in either case!!

Get those poor folks off the road . . . don’t they know their place?
I remember back in the day . . . my dad worked for the Richardson family, they were quite perturbed when the little people started clogging the arteries of the city, with their old smelly cars. Jimmy of course was a Liberal progressive and served in the first Trudough Regime . . .

Taxes for the roads have already been collected, but the pack of government thieves stole it and spent it leftist feel goods, and free rides for bums and good for nothings.

When it snows I fire up the 120 HP tractor and blow the entire one mile of road out to pavement – only one pass about 8 feet wide- that allows residents to get to work and to town

The plows sometimes beat me but often we see nothing for two to four days

So, when public transport gets out to my place I will stop driving as much.

C’mon greenies and lefty folks – I grow your food – want to drive me out of business?

5 km to work on a gravel road. I don’t see any commuter bus in my future. I’m just lucky to see a snow plow within 3 days of a storm.

Earl said, “What it costs is what people should pay.”

I am sorry, Earl, that is unacceptable, that is capitalism. Any good leftie knows capitalism is evil … comrade. Taxes are the only way! ;o)

Steve said, "It is well known, if you say it over and over, the truth no longer matters. "

Oh, I thought that if you say it over and over that the force of your words changed the fabric of reality until it becomes the truth. At least that seems to be how the lefties think.

If they don’t want to drive, then they take a bus. And when they take the bus, the government shouldn’t subsidize the fares at all. What it costs is what people should pay.

Canadian voters need to wise up. You keep voting in socialist governments and you will keep handing over more of your cash and get little/nothing in return.

The other key is the media party. The media party when full bore hatred this federal election. Never seen anything like it. Canada has chosen a man-child camp counselor over a seasoned economist – that’s like taking your pregnant wife to the auto mechanic for delivery.

It is well known, if you say it over and over, the truth no longer matters.

Thank goodness for – Canada’s bastion for an Indpendent / Conservative voice.

Good one Drew! lol. Am I the only one who thinks a like (and a dislike) button for these comments would be a really great thing?

We could always stop working.

I already have. Friday was my last day.

Good point Colin. I’ve been wondering about that too.

Rebels…..Great comments, all of them…… to read.
Like usual, their lefty policies are fabricated by brain dead people & aimed at brain dead people, who will go along with this crap. If you live in a rural area, try getting anywhere without a vehicle. Does that mean I have to start brushing up on my skateboard skills?

I still can’t figure out why the ’green’s want to kill off all vegetation, and by extension all life on Earth
commented 2015-11-02 17:58:34 -0500
Hey lefty green nuts … I got an idea that would significantly reduce commuter traffic … force the real estate market to devalue all the over priced housing in big cities so people don’t have to live so far away to have a place they can afford.
For other great ideas, please feel free to join the Occupy CN Tower initiative. :-p

Rae, that’s absolutely my plan.
commented 2015-11-02 17:55:30 -0500
Drew, I know. It was a fun little fantasy though.

Taxes like these don’t take into account the prairies. Farmers don’t have a choice about fuel. They can’t run their farms without it. And all of them live several miles from where they have to buy their goods and services, and pick up their mail, so they have to drive vehicles. Hybrids don’t work so well for our cold winters and can’t dependably get me, for instance, from where I live to Winnipeg. There is really no choice. But of course this is where a lot of Canada’s food is grown. And trucks are what get the food and grains to markets and to city store shelves. And they use fuel. So what happens to the cost of goods that come from farms? No special discounts there because you’re a green activist.

Would one of the lefties please explain to me how taxes clean the air? If you shut off my fossil fuels i would then have to burn wood which produces far more carbon than a vehicle or a gas furnace.

Well we can start by taking Suzukis bus off the road. And maybe these people can use transit if they are so concerned, you know PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!

When I heard this on the news earlier today, a pointy-head with a straight face actually gave the rationale that if we simply build more roads and highways to ease congestion, people will just use them.
To find out more about the people who gave me that first laugh of my day I discovered that those people who are associated with the commission are such fine, upstanding geniuses as Bob Rae, Preston Manning, Paul Martin, Jean Charest and a bunch of eco-whackos so frightening that they make Halloween feel like aromatherapy.

Barb Harris the hypocrites would never actually put their money where their mouths are. It is only for us peasants to go without.

Scoop up Wynne/Justin et al that is.
commented 2015-11-02 17:37:28 -0500
There is a group of Old Order Mennonites that live down the highway from here. Wish we could scoop them all up and make them spend even a week in a cold, windy Manitoba winter there, with no electricity and having to use a horse and buggy to go anywhere.

I wonder, do they ever think of Senior Citizens, when they come up with these scams? I can just imagine the likes of Notley and Wynne, drooling at the mouth, like hungry Apes.
commented 2015-11-02 17:17:57 -0500
Brian you call them pointy heads, I call them shit heads why because they hate the automobile. Why don’t they set an example… use horse and buggy for transportation? We know that would never happen because they would never cleanup the horse shit left behind.
