In an interview with CBC's Peter Mansbridge, NDP leader Thomas Mulcair said if he were to become Prime Minister he would immediately stop fighting against the Islamic State terrorists.
Clarifying and re-stating his position in his own words, he confirmed that Canada would immediately be out of the fight with ISIS after an NDP win.
Asked if ISIS posed a threat to Canada and Canadians, Mulcair could only tell us what we already know --- that the wars and violence in the Middle East are a long-standing problem. But what about ISIS specifically, which has become an immediate threat in the last couple of years?
If you won't fight against this pure evil with even the smallest, safest Canadian mission, why even have a military in the first place?
It's fair enough to only care about your own people and disengage from the world but then don't pretend to be the party of humanitarian care and concern because what this really means is under Mulcair and the NDP, Canada would stand in stony silence and condemn vulnerable people in the region to the fruits of his apathy.
