Islam has proven itself yet again to be the problem child of religions: It just doesn’t play well with others. According to a Globe & Mail article, some Muslim parents are pulling their kids from mandatory public school music classes because Islam forbids music.
Of course the Toronto District School Board offered to accommodate those Muslim parents who had a problem with music class by suggesting several compromises, but no dice.
Imam Kasim Ingar, the leader of the Scarborough Muslim Association said:
“We here believe that music is haram. We can neither listen to it, nor can we play a role in it.”
“We do not compromise with anyone on the clear-cut orders and principles conveyed by the Prophet.”
It’s our way or the halal-highway.
No negotiation, no compromise, no wiggle-room.
So much for the progressive “reasonable accommodation” policy which as we’ve seen has become a one-way street in Canada.
