A man dressed recognizably as Jewish was hospitalized in Strasbourg after being stabbed by a man screaming "Allah hu acbar" at around 11AM local time today.
The victim, who has been named as Mr. Levy, is reported by a colleague to be a rabbi. He was stabbed by a man who shouted “Allahu Akhbar” (God is greatest), according to the 20minutes news platform.
The attack took place at around 11:00am local time (09:00 GMT). Mr. Levi, who has been described as an Orthodox Jew, was assaulted just outside his home around 500 meters away from the main synagogue in the city, according to AFP.
This is the most recent in a growing list of attacks on Jewish people by Muslims in France, ranging from the kidnapping, torture and murder of a young Jewish man to the shooting of "a bunch of folks at a deli" on the day Charlie Hebdo's offices were attacked.
Attacks by Muslims have become so common in France that the state has placed armed guards at most Jewish schools and places of worship.
