John McAfee is running for president as a member of the Libertarian Party. He also just offered enormous support to Donald Trump.
In an article by McAfee for Business Insider, he writes “Anonymous on Wednesday announced all-out war against Trump, announcing for the first time, to my knowledge, the time and target of an attack in advance.”
He explains how the warning by Anonymous of an upcoming attack against Trump should not be taken lightly.
The threats come from a contributor to the Anonymous headquarters website named "Righteous”. The user is in charge of a group of hackers who attacked Turkey last year.
“As a longtime observer of Anonymous, I have never seen preparations to this extent for any prior hack in the group's history. Its level of assurance in the success of its attack, in spite of giving advanced notice, indicates that it wants the world to watch an event of serious proportions,” McAfee writes.
It is then that he announces he will offer his help to Donald Trump.
“It's too late in the game to design, implement, and install the systems necessary to ameliorate the coming attack. But I feel that whatever happens, Trump will emerge with a far deeper appreciation of what cyberattacks can do, and hopefully he will understand better the implications of a potential cyberwar. To this end I am offering, freely and without constraint, my services to his campaign in helping design a cybersecurity platform that will, in the event of his election, help protect America when the cyberwar that lurks on our horizon becomes a reality,” he says.
We will have to wait until the attack to see if McAfee is right and if his support will pay dividends.
