Justin Trudeau is "a breathtaking ignoramus even by the standards of his predecessors"

Theo CaldwellRebel Commentator

In this age of information, with the record of socialism’s consequences readily available, to remain a person of the left is to be, as Cicero described those ignorant of history, “forever a child.”

Not only is perpetual adolescence evident in those on the left and the politically disinterested (for whom cultural leftism represents the path of least resistance), it is often celebrated in their leaders.

For those of us further to the right (for short, let’s call ourselves People With Some Idea of the Destruction Left Wing Ideas Wrought Over the Last Century), this is precisely how we view those on the other side, whether we realize it or not.

Consequently, when we see Justin Trudeau rise in defence of some antiquated idiocy he clearly does not comprehend, or Elizabeth May throw up all over herself in an attempt to be “edgy,” we may kick up a fuss for a few days, but we let it pass since, candidly, we expect no better of them.

First, to May. The Greatest Columnist in the World, Mark Steyn, averred on Toronto radio that the Green Party poobah was not drunk when she issued her recent cringe-inducing, Khadr-praising, profanity-laced diatribe at the Ottawa Press Gallery Dinner, but is simply so cloistered among her juvenile fellow travelers that she thinks this is what passes for wit. Perhaps.

Whether May was topped up on organically brewed firewater or not, is anyone genuinely surprised that she would utter such nonsense, or that she would retain her position after doing so? Of course not – it’s just another leftist leader saying dumb things and facing zero consequences as a result.

Justin, meanwhile, made fewer headlines than he should for telling the House of Commons that “benefitting every single family is not what is fair.” As Liberal leader, and a breathtaking ignoramus even by the standards of his predecessors, Justin prefers to pick and choose who benefits from government largesse, rather than craft the best policy for the nation. Moreover, he is utterly benighted as to the consistent result this approach has achieved.

In the case of both May and Trudeau, these are the acts and ideas of children. Once again, search your heart: Are you surprised?

Thus, the familiar right-wing plaint, “If a conservative did the same thing, there’d be hell to pay” is rendered moot.
Conservatives are invariably the adults in the room. We cannot live down to the puerile level of the left, and an argument that presupposes we might goes nowhere. It’s like the Ray Romano routine about how if your 3-year-old names all her toes, it’s cute, but when Grandpa does it, it’s a tragedy.

If you have some idea what’s going on in the world, and coherent notions about life and human nature, you will be on the right. If not, you likely consider Justin a born leader and think May was “speaking truth to power.”

Of the two, Justin is by far the more consequential. While May is a self-serving sideshow, nominally representing a gaggle of greened-over weirdos and cop-out artists, whose response to difficult policy questions is to retreat behind environmentalist bromides or spew schoolyard inanities, there is a decent chance Justin will be Prime Minister someday.

Whether or not this comes to pass, the fact that it is a possibility is an indictment not only of the left, but of every voter who squanders this country’s cultural heritage by failing to recognize an idiot when he sees one.

And no Old Testament prophet gave clearer signs. Coupled with his remarks, just take an objective gander at his expression. Beneath the veneer of cosmopolitan competence is a pained, confused look like Zoolander workshopping Magnum. Left or right, simply look at this man and listen to his bleatings.

There’s nobody home and you know it.

This did not begin, nor will it end, with Trudeau and May.

Decades ago, Liberal Sheila Copps, as ridiculous a public figure as Canadian politics has ever produced, was Deputy Prime Minister. None who remember her from those days, or who have heard her policy silly-bears lately (“global warming” continues to haunt her nightmares, Sheila not having been hipped to the updated, CYA, catch-all term, “climate change”) could look to her for rational, grown-up leadership.

Copps remains perpetually aggrieved and animated by befuddled feminism, as though leftist women were signatory to Section 5 of NATO – an attack on one is an attack on all. Yet this absurdity was placed a heartbeat away from wielding benign dictatorship over the nation.

In this way, Trudeau, May, et al., are a continuation of an age-old tradition, of whom Copps was merely a generational marker.

Of course, this phenomenon is not peculiar to Canada. Democrats Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Hank Johnson (who famously worried aloud if excess population could cause Guam to capsize) stand as living testaments to the American left’s tolerance for dimwittedness.

Lenin infamously contended that “useful idiots” in the West would enable the spread of communism. At least Lenin had an agenda (and, tragically, a fair degree of prescience).

Today, the left elevates acceptable imbeciles not out of some ideological imperative but because, like children, they don’t know any better.

“with the record of socialism’s consequences readily available”. Exactly right Mr. Caldwell.

With all the knowledge we have regarding the amazing success story of the socialist government in Norway with their unbelievable One Trillion U.S. dollar sovereign Fund (largest in the world) – which now gives them something of an advantage in their quest to transition from non-renewable oil resources over to renewable forms of energy, and to continue to treat their citizens to everything from totally free education and healthcare to a debt, deficits and recession free economy – we now have Conservative Canadians and Albertans chomping at the bit to return to a more Conservative government.

Yes – can you believe it – Return to a more conservative government! As Einstein said, ‘when you continue to do the same thing over and over again, and expect different results, you’re very likely insane.’

After 45+ years of being pillaged by foreign oil companies and inept and incompetent Conservative governments in Alberta, we are now faced with some Albertans of questionable sanity, wanting to go back to those bad old days. And some Canadians are now lamenting the kicking of Stevo (didn’t see either recession coming, Yikes!) to the curb – give me a break!

Imagine – a Canada, and an Alberta that neither has a pot to pee in because of a Conservative leadership of nitwits, returning the same nitwits to run the show again. How crazy is that?

With the NDP in power in Alberta, and the Liberals in Ottawa, there’s a good chance that the cycle of economic mismanagement will finally end.

And some nutball is suggesting that Calgary’s airport be renamed after the closet captain. Is this a 2nd dimension that some folks are inhabiting? It would be far more appropriate to name one of the leaking tar sands tailings ponds after the Stevie – both are bright and shiny – but both are toxic and poisonous as hell.

It was a joy to read such well written prose.

I think I’ll be coming around regularly.

Keep up the good work.

Jason, you just proved Theo’s point. Nice one.

Trying to like some parts of this “therebel” group but this childish, ill informed, piece of utter BS certainly nailed the coffin shut for me. Theo, are you living under a rock in 2015? The fact that they let you publish this and people (myself included) read it is a testament to the dimwittedness of the Canadian Political right. To top it of the article was neither informative, interesting or funny. 10 minutes of my life I will never get back – you are a hack and I suspect quite the bloated moron too.

I think you under-estimate the ability of the average voter to recognize a zero in a suit when s/he sees one. Like Olivia Chow’s failed mayoralty bid, the longer the campaign, the more he expose himself to be an emperor who has no clothes.

Christopher Jones – the problem is Canadians as a whole are becoming as much a problem as Justin and Liz – limp wrists, weak dicks, and the inability to make a decision that does not include everyone in a kumbya circle.

I blame it upon feminazis, school teachers, universities and such.

Fact is those schools have allowed the slaughter of the male of the Canadian species, taught women that work is more important than family – and in the end taught ALL students WHAT to think rather than HOW to think.

Canada is in serious trouble.

Lots of great comments on here by readers, so refreshing compared to comments in mainstream publications. Keeping an eye on the Left, I watch The Agenda. Last summer, a Uni prof that did a study on what makes ppl laugh stumbled on to the same thing Alex is talking about. A difference in brains. And you KNOW they’re going to hi-jack that conversation and try to claim it’s conservatives with child-brains. In fact, I’ve already seen a video of Lefty “intelligentsia” laughing how one day they’ll find all this out.

My little girl is three and she can already read Dr. Suess Books as well as doing some basic addition and subtraction. I think that puts her light years ahead of Turdeau and Nay. To say that leftists are, “like children” is an insult to all us home-schooling parents that actually teach our children to be respectful, intellectual, open-minded, & inquisitive. It would be more accurate to describe leftist ideology as, “fantasy” or even better yet, “delusion”. There are children out there that are way, way, way more intelligent than all of the Green / Liberal Party members combined IQ’s. so lets not belittle the little ones by comparing them to people who are completely mindless.

Ok, you had me at “breathtaking ignoramus” – but what can we do about “every voter who squanders this country’s cultural heritage by failing to recognize an idiot when he sees one.”

Make no mistake. Le Bebe’s statement about ‘fairness’ reveals the truth about liberals. Liberals view any benefit given out by government as a tool to curry favour and buy votes. If you are ‘fair’ and give the benefit to everyone, you eliminate it’s value because everyone has it. If you are a Liberal, you bestow the benefit to a minority and there by establish it’s value by not giving it to others who may want it. And in the Liberal’s M.O. they can use this benefit to persuade people to do as the Liberals wish so that they too will enjoy the benefit.
So in the end, Le Bebe was only blurting out the truth about how Liberals spend tax dollars to buy votes and the fact that ‘fairness’ in applying government largess is the absolute worst thing that could happen in a Liberal world.

A failed drama teacher

Born into a silver spoon life style

Never been anywhere (unless it was first class) and never done anything.

Never worried about paying his power bill.

And the beat goes on.

What are we to expect?

Keep your expectations low folks and remember this when he is PM – because it will be a tough time for Canada

I want to add to my previous comment that other traits of immature individuals are not to see the world as it is but as they want it to be. There are people that don’t reach maturity all their life. There is a famous quote that summarizes it: A young person that is not a socialist does not have a heart but when he grows older and is still a socialist he does not have a brain
That explains the attraction of Obama (and Justin) with his CHANGE slogan that attracted the leftists. Don’t expect the diehard leftists in to ditch him. No matter how bad things are, and how it is getting worse they live in their virtual reality and waiting for the promised change to materialize..

The adult leftist can not help themselves it is same as homosexuality it is ingrained in their brain. Actually there was a study that compared brain structure of leftist and that of normal adults. A 2011 study by cognitive neuroscientist Ryota Kanai’s group at University College London published in Current Biology, found a correlation between differences in political views and differences in brain structures in a convenience sample of students from University College London.2 The researchers performed MRI scans on the brains of 90 volunteer students who had indicated their political orientation on a five-point scale ranging from ‘very liberal’ to ‘very conservative’.
Leftist have larger anterior cingulate cortexes a region of the brain that monitors uncertainty and conflict. Meanwhile, those who identified themselves as conservative had larger amygdalas, which process fear, among other related emotions. Researchers believe the differences reflect a tendency for liberals tend to be more comfortable with uncertainty while conservatives are more sensitive to fear.
I other words leftists are comfortable with uncertainty, which indicates immaturity typical behaviour of young risk taking individuals, that don’t analyze the long term consequences of their actions. On other hand conservatives being sensitive to fear more prone to look the adverse future consequences of actions and less likely engage in experimentation and change from old and proven methods which is the true meaning of conservatism.

Theo surmises that many lefties are like children. I support that contention. I have met many lefties, where there is a disagreement of opinion or facts, they revert to child like actions such as raising their voices to drown out the other opinion and then stomping away to show their disgust at you. Hardly mature by any measure. I don’t get why so many voters support them? Are they the same, and/or our educational systems have indoctrinated them by the time they become voters? We are in big trouble if this petulant man-child Trudeau gets power. He may be too dim to realize what has been acquired, however those shadowy figures in the background (like Gerald Butts) do and so begins the destruction of Canada!

Justin says it is not fair to help everyone. Past Liberal Gov’t’s such as Chretien and PET demonstrated what Liberals care most about is helping themselves, their friends, and fellow hangers-on. All with tax dollars of course!
commented 2015-05-14 16:26:43 -0400
It’s a well known ‘fact’ that Liberals are not interested in facts, as long as they have emotions!

Your comparison of leftists with children is very apt – though it may in some instances be doing a disservice to normal children.

Okay … But while it is unclear who first iterated it, there is another part to that idea. The part about heart. You know, the idea that if one is nit a socialist when young, one has no heart and if one is not a Conservative/Republical when one is old, one has no brain.

The defining purpose of youth is to reject the old and strike out, indpendent of wisdom, to change the world. To put heart into the administration of economy, foreign relations, social justice.

The left exploits the idealism of youth. As we on the right might better understand and heed.

What brought Stephen Harper to power was reform, big and little “r” reform. It sold voters on transparency, accountability, justice for victims and nationalism. Voters believed.

Trudeau is selling idealism out. He wants to legalize drugs and grow unions. Even starry-eyed youth recognizes that disappointed and sullied feeling of being sold out. They’d have more respect for his ideas of fairness if, like Robin Hood, he promised to take from the very rich and give to the very poor, Canada’s growing but invisible starving and homeless underclass. But instead, he has promised to take from the moderately rich to give to the greedy and corrupt entitled class.

We oughtn’t to take our eye off Mulcair. He is smart and has a spine. With the right manipulation, we may be able to keep Tom as official opposition and leave Justin so far behind in third place that he resigns. That would be the best of all worlds.

But going forward, if Conservatives hope to maintain our edge, to maintain Harper’s legacy of making the Conservative Party the natural ruling party of Canada, we must continue to appeal to ideals. To show some heart. To reach out to ordinary Canadians. To be inclusive of diversity and not forget our roots. To lead a continuous reform of national conscience.

We must catch the torch and then throw it back to Canada’s youth, to engage them in the great purpose of democracy that are freedom and human rights, the heart of Conservatism that needs a strong economy, a strong military and a rule by legislation that ever strives for that illusion of justice.
