As a student with right wing leanings, I've been berated, laughed at, kicked out of university clubs and had almost no representation for my political views on campus.
In fact, arguing for more conservative or libertarian principles at college is pretty much discouraged by current campus culture. I've fought back on a small scale, refusing to have my voice silenced, and luckily I'm not the only student doing so.
Tonight I have Hunter Swogger, a student and University of Michigan, and Charlie Peters at University of Edinburgh on to discuss their battle for free speech and open discourse. It’s a battle that isn't so easy when you're at a campus like U of M whose students have called the police over Trump supporting chalk, or Edinburgh, where they’ve banned raising ones hand because it's deemed triggering.
As ridiculous as they sound, these incidents are very real and are just a few examples of how insane campus culture has become.
