Canada is officially out of the fight against ISIS after a vote in the House of Commons that will change the nature of the mission.
The vote was really just a formality since the Liberals had already made the changes including pulling back our CF18 fighters.
The Conservatives voted against it because they think we should still be bombing while the NDP voted against it because they think training Kurdish and Iraqi fighters is too risky.
Liberals said they liked what Canada had done in Afghanistan. That involved training but also included going to the front lines to take those we were helping, into battle. The Liberals won’t do it this way in the ISIS fight even though not even they can deny the good work we did in Afghanistan.
There will be international pressure for Canada to do more but this latest action is just one of many that shows Liberals don’t see the benefits of a strong military and instead seem to want to believe in some fantasy world where everybody just gets along.
Whatever they may think, what they are doing isn’t what peacekeeper Pearson envisioned because he at least understood first, there has to be a peace to keep.
The Liberals seem to exist in a unicorn and fairy dust world that obscures reality.
