(PHOTO) But when Liberals politicize Terry Fox Run, that's different...

There is always one rule for the Conservatives and another for the Liberals whenever it comes to the media.

Case in point is the faux scandal over whether the Conservatives supporting funding the Terry Fox Run was crass, with the Terry Fox family saying the party had misrepresented it at a recent campaign event.

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau’s top advisor Gerald Butts tweeted:

Apparently Butts doesn’t know that Trudeau’s candidate Pam Damoff’s bio on the Liberal Party website includes this gem:

Pam is an active volunteer in her community; she is Chair of the Oakville Santa Claus Parade and Terry Fox Run.

And take a look at this photo Damoff posted on Facebook of all the red Liberal campaign shirts during the Terry Fox Run:

It is one thing to show up to a charity event in full colours, quite another to promise tax payer funds to the charity if elected. Can you spot the huge difference. One is totally acceptable, the other deplorable.

Liberals are liars, They will do and say anything to get elected. They have no shame

While we do not have to fully exonerate or absolve Mr. Moore for making not the best advised comments concerning contributions to the Terry Fox charity, it is in many cases very disturbing to see peoples’ reactions online. This case and even the one of the Indiana pizzeria owner who simply said in a hypothetical situation that he would not cater a gay wedding really shows how despite professing tolerance and compassion for all, the left can be a very nasty and angry and intolerant lot to deal with.

Bravo Jimmy DS! Just use profanity if you can’t win an argument.

Even though there were probably noble intentions behind his comments (after all, this does involve fighting cancer), the minister may not have been as sensitive to the Fox’s desire to be non-partisan as he should have been and given that, Harper and the Conservatives can perhaps offer another clarification and apology in the matter. I am still awaiting an apology from Fin Donnelly and Tom Mulcair concerning Mr. Donnelly’s remarks about the Syrian refugee crisis made at the beginning of the month, however.

Jimmy, it’s not just Dean. And he only posted a sample of the multitude of examples of liberals’ “politicizing” Terry Fox.
The Foundation stated that it sent out its August 31, 2015 letter requesting support to all the parties, yet only the Conservatives actually responded. How are the Conservatives in the wrong here?

The Conservatives here are using the same approach that they have used for relief assistance in world disasters. If one gets over the idea of tax payer’s money being used to support Canadian Charities, this approach is consistent with past situations.

Ian,

You have to understand Dean. You see, he is one of those itchy trigger finger kind of conservatives. The very second he smells something that could be a controversy (but typically isn’t one at all), Dean has already written 20 letters to complain and made a ton of posts online like this one.

He constantly jumps the gun on the most idiotic fucking things.

So let’s stop all the political whining and have the major parties agree to a common approach supporting the Terry Fox Run. How many Canadians would contribute, or bump up their contributions, knowing the federal government was matching?

The double standard that is present is not news and hasn’t been news for years. One has to be totally blind, deaf or Liberal not to notice the bias and hypocrisy.

Please explain how posting a picture of Liberals at a Terry Fox Run or citing charitable work related to the run is the same as misrepresenting the Fox family’s support for a charitable donation tied to a Conservative election victory—using our own tax dollars, no less. Dean, did you even read the article you linked to?

“On Sunday, federal Industry Minister James Moore and Stephen Harper’s wife, Laureen, were at the Terry Fox Run in Port Moody, B.C., where Laureen Harper took part in the event with a local Conservative candidate. After the run, Moore announced that a re-elected Conservative government would commit up to $35 million to match donations raised during this year’s Terry Fox Run for cancer research.

When asked how the Fox family felt about the pledge, Moore replied: “They’re enthusiastic and they think it’s great.”

But the Fox family — who were not present at the announcement — quickly denied the claim. "
