Method to media’s AR-15 madness: Lying about Orlando terrorist's gun, so they can go after Conservative MP

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Commentator

The media is getting the facts about the Orlando shooting wrong. They're misreporting the kind of gun used. It's not an AR-15. It's a Sig Sauer MCX Carbine. But there's a reason for that: the media can use this misinformation to ruin a Conservative MP.

Conservative MP for the BC riding of Prince George - Peace River - Northern Rockies, Bob Zimmer presented a petition in support of reclassifying the Canadian version of the AR-15 to non-restricted status.

Twenty-five thousand Canadians have signed his petition, including myself. It only makes sense. The Canadian AR-15 fires the same rounds as many of our favourite non-restricted rifles. The Canadian AR-15 is basically a scary looking varmint rifle.

But the media never misses a chance to smear a Conservative. Left wing BC newspaper The Georgia Straight, Huffington Post and CBC all ran hit pieces on Bob Zimmer and his common sense petition to reclassify the AR-15. Zimmer was widely criticized for wanting to make AR-15s easier to get, even though that's not what reclassification does.

Remember, the Orlando shooting had nothing to do with an AR-15. But facts don't matter when you're building up a sweet narrative.

Using a tragedy and lies to damage a Conservative isn't anything new for the mainstream media. They blamed Conservative Immigration Minister Chris Alexander for the drowning death of little Alan Kurdi on a beach in Turkey, even though Alan's family had never applied to come to Canada. That lie ruined Alexander’s career. The mainstream media is now trying to do the same thing to Bob Zimmer.

When it comes to the mainstream media, they'll never let the truth get in the way of destroying a Conservative.

@mary Auld….guns are indeed powerful weapons…that is precisely why this is no time to be unarmed.

“Too many blonds in the media. "

Really? What have you got against men Gerry? Were you referring to any particular blond man in the media?

an English noun, a blond is a fair-haired male, and a blonde is a fair-haired female. …well?

The right has a large number of blondes and they are very in tune with civil rights…Gerry…enough of your boring sexism, eh?

Correction, Mary, YOU want none of them here. The AR-15 (as has been shown so many times already) is no different than any other gun and is a relative pipsqueak in power. The original semi autos were built for hunters- like the Remington model 8 in 1908. The militaries of the world got in to the game quite late.

Just because you are haplophobe doesn’t mean you are right.

Excellent analysis Sheila.

…Mary A…You need to learn some history…Do you actually know why the Americans have the second amendment to their constitution? If you don’t want a gun…well dear, just don’t buy one. But your desire to dispose of all legal guns would only ensure that ONLY criminals and terrorists would have guns, for they will ALWAYS HAVE THEIRS no matter what laws are passed because they ARE criminals! Sadly criminals are not responsible people, nor are they usually trained in the safe handling of firearms. So your fears will NEVER be put to rest by taking civil rights from law abiding Canadians. Target shooting and hunting are great outdoor activities and should be the right of any who choose to take part responsibly. Their civil rights should not be subject to the irrational fears and phobia’s of others.

Switzerland trails behind only the U.S, Yemen and Serbia in the number of guns per capita; between 2.3 million and 4.5 million military and private firearms are estimated to be in circulation in a country of only 8 million people. Yet, despite the prevalence of guns, the violent-crime rate is low."
see: http://world.time.com/2012/12/20/the-swiss-difference-a-gun-culture-that-works/

“One of the reasons the crime rate in Switzerland is low despite the prevalence of weapons —…is the culture of responsibility and safety that is anchored in society and passed from generation to generation. Kids as young as 12 belong to gun groups in their local communities, where they learn sharpshooting. The Swiss Shooting Sports Association runs about 3,000 clubs and has 150,000 members, including a youth section. Many members keep their guns and ammunition at home, while others choose to leave them at the club. And yet, despite such easy access to pistols and rifles, “no members have ever used their guns for criminal purposes,” says Max Flueckiger, the association’s spokesperson.”

In a time to kick-ass & take names, a whole lot of us need to list the companies who buy advertising with the offending Lame-Stream outlets, then develop a “class-action” campaign that pulls down market share, bonds, stocks, and retail revenues on every company that continues to support the distorting news presenters. Pressure them until they dump their contracts with the CBC, the Georgia Strait, and other lie peddlers. Keep applying that pressure against anyone else who signs on to replace them.

If it’s fat with lies, it needs a starvation diet.

Sorry, do not agree with The Rebel this time. I do NOT want ANY of these guns available, for any reason and do not think our MP’s should be championing this type of gun. The fewer guns we have here the better, varmint gun or not…..we want NONE of them here.

I’m not a fan of ‘conspiracy theories’ but am seeing some very plausible videos that the Gay bar shooting was an enacted set-up shooting. We know they’re trying to frame the wrong gun, we know that it was probably impossible for one shooter to inflict that much damage but I saw a video of a person who had 4 bullets that went through him, making a selfie video from a hospital bed ??? What’s going on ?

Yeah, in Toronto Talk Radio 640 also did a piece linking MP Robert Zimmer to the shooting in Orlando. I still think it is unfair, even if Gunn Reid and all the media outlets do it. His proposal as a Canadian lawmaker was done in a very different context than the U.S. gun control debate.

vajay jay….it is best to let people think you’re a fool than open your mouth and leave no doubt.

On the CBC’s live coverage of the shooting this was a side story, about Zimmer’s petition. It’s guilt by association tactics. Even you should be able to see something so simple

even if it was an ar15 used at the orlando shooting, that shouldn’t change a darn thing! these liberals want you to believe that guns have mind controlling capabilities. they CAN’T! period. the issue here is the intent of the criminal, the person has to want to use the gun on people before he uses the gun on people. the gun can’t make him do that, the gun is a tool. and to say I am a criminal because I wan’t a rifle because some criminal used that rifle in a crime is INSANITY. that’s like saying your a criminal for wanting a kitchen knife because it was used in a crime somewhere else.

and it sure doesn;t help when the media falsely claims its an AR not Sig Sauer.

There have been times like this before, when any means are ok to get to the utopian ends. These times always end in huge, horrific wars. Freedom usually comes through in the end, but sometimes not (Chinese revolution).

It seems we have entered into an period in history where lying by the left\socialists is considered the norm and is okay so long as the “greater purpose” is served.

The gun control legislation in this country is insane. The police are allowed to decide what is acceptable and what’s not,….sadly the Cons had years to repeal the deeply flawed C68 but did not.
What western democracy would have a law where an ex wife or girlfriend could determine if you can or can’t participate in a pastime or recreational activity ??
commented 2016-06-16 10:57:39 -0400
I think it has nothing to do with “going after” a CPC MP – it has to do with going after the AR 15 – this was an unrestricted rifle that many hunters used for varmint control and coyoting – then it was reclassified (with no justification) as a restricted firearm and you could no longer hunt – you could only take it to certified restricted firearms ranges and needed a transport permit to do this – now the fear mongering and propaganda machine is cranked up over this US crime, it is targeted for arbitrary reclassification to prohibited status – which means they will either allow those with them to be grand fathered and prohibit any sales or they will confiscate because restricted firearms must be registered and this constitutes a registry list.

I have come to distrust any Political or police motive where civilian firearms are concerned – police now lie about guns as routinely as media and politicians.

The Canadian and American main stream media are pathological liars and just plain criminals that have no morals whatsoever, just like the socialist trolls that post on this website.

There is no possibility that these types of people will ever stop being the filthy shit that they are.

Jay, here in Winnipeg on CJOB Dahlia’s afternoon show asked the listeners if Zimmer was nuts and if the AR-15 should be banned. So, yes, the connection betwixt Orlando and Zimmer is being made. Multiply that by every media outlet in the country.

Good one. The Canadian media just lies their little hearts out with impunity and the masses soak it all up. I read the CBC article and their quoting the Green Party Leader, Elizabeth May, was beyond belief. I mean Elizabeth May needs two hands to find her asshole let alone know which end of a gun is which…

Has anyone, up until Gunn Reid’s piece, made the connection between the shooting in Florida and Conservative MP Robert Zimmer?

Perhaps Gunn Reid owes Zimmer an apology.

Truth and reality be damned when one (in this case lefties and socialist media) can use such misrepresentations to smear a Conservative!
