Mother of disabled non-Muslim denied housing says, "I wanna take this as far as I can"

David MenziesMission Specialist

Previously, we brought you the story of Austin Lewis, the 21 year old disabled man who was denied subsidized housing in a Muslim only apartment building in Toronto.

I spoke with Austin's mother, Laura Whiteway, to get her perspective and an update as well as speaking with Karim Tahir, Building Manager at 3001 Finch West.

In addition to covering the story here at TheRebel.Media, we started a petition to demand that the City of Toronto end religious discrimination in public housing.

Add your name to the petition if you're as shocked as Austin that something like this could happen in Canada.

Go figure. I don’t believe that just any group that wants to have a segregated building that offers subsidized units and thus receives funds from the province can have a segregated building. I just don’t believe it! Has anyone heard of a Christian Science building? Bad example, since they are all rich and don’t require to live in apartments. O.k., how about a Blacks-only apartment building? How about a development that is open exclusively to people who earn a stipulated minimum amount of money? Hey, how about a building EXCLUSIVELY for people with mental handicaps, or a building EXCLUSIVELY for the blind? How about a building that is exclusively for homosexuals? I agree that the mother of Austin Lewis should take this further, and I feel ashamed of the legal community that has not offered to take this on for her. Austin should receive, at the very least, the VERY least, a formal hand-delivered letter of apology, along with a sum of $25,000 for the pain and suffering this demeaning situation has caused. You know, like those kids in Calgary who received … what was it, $14,000 EACH because their non-denominational high school that openly prides itself in not providing accommodation on the school premises for any religion whatsoever, did not have a segregated praying room for Muslims. If THEY got money, Austin should certainly receive compensation as well. As well, he should be given proof that the person who wrote the letter “in error” (according the man interviewed) was fired. I will chip in to the fund started by the mother of Austin. Will anyone else?

My whole outlook is this: They (muslims) are equivalent to a bunch of locusts, flourishing and eating Canada’s guts from the inside out. There is no room in our country for Sharia Law ! Good for Austin’s mother! Apparently John Tory isn’t paying attention, nor the council. They need another rally and swarms of people to protest. We as Canadian’s must fight back! I’ve followed their last protest, (however the idea was there, but not the crowds). Remember the word Locust!

Welcome to the new Canada.
Austin is better not living there. I wonder what would happen if we excluded Muslims?

Please tell me there really isn’t a law that allows for this kind of discrimination.

Will be interesting to see how the OHRC rules on this. Ontario and Toronto has very weak spine politicians when it comes to standing up to the law of discrimination. I very much doubt that a white only or a Christian only building would be allowed in Toronto paid for by the Ontario taxpayers. If Ontario is going to allow discrimination regarding disabilities and religion then scrap the discrimination law all together and get rid of the HRC of Ontario. I think we all know how the spineless will rule on this one.

When you bring in scum you have to either MAKE them adapt – or kick them out.

Wait until trudope, the French citizen and the once honourable general get their way – and it will happen

People will not believe what has happened after those trash arrive here.

However it will be their own fault

I hope you follow up on all those other groups that are allowed to discriminate based on religion, culture or language to confirm they are allowed to discriminate and still receive tax payer funding.
Plese be aware that Muslims are allowed to lie. Here is a quote taken from :
’Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should generally be truthful to each other, unless the purpose of lying is to “smooth over differences.”

There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause Islam – in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.’
It is apparent that both examples apply in this case but don’t take my word for it, look it up in the Koran yourself.

A sad situation, that should never have happened in Canada. Laura and Austin are dealing with City Counselor’s, one of the lower forms of Humanity on this planet but having said that, I think that no residential building, Public or Privately owned, should be permitted to segregate the tenants, by race creed or couler.
As an after thought, Laura mentioned that she just wanted Austin to be safe. Personally, I would rather be in Viet Nam during the war, than live in a building full of Muslims.

Discrimination against disabled meets freedom of religion… which one will the HRC rule against?
