Melissa Harris Perry has frequently said very stupid things on air.
From wearing tampon earrings to comparing unborn babies to cancer, she's on another level when it comes to being an attention-seeker.
And now she's claiming Star Wars is racist.
With The Force Awakens coming soon, her panel decided to have a conversation about Star Wars.
“I know why I have feelings -- good, bad, and otherwise -- about Star Wars. And I have a lot. I could spend the whole day talking about the whole Darth Vader situation,” she said.
“Yeah, like, the part where he was totally a black guy whose name basically was James Earl Jones, who, and we were all, but while he was black, he was terrible and bad and awful and used to cut off white men's hands, and didn't, you know, actually claim his son,” she added.
Um, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are white. By her logic all stormtroopers are white because they wear white. James Earl Jones did voice the character of Darth Vader, but David Prowse was inside the costume.
Vader had no idea his son/daughter was even still alive. In Revenge of the Sith we learn The Emperor told him that in a fit of rage he killed his pregnant wife.
In the original trilogy, Darth Vader only cut off one man's hand – his own son's.
“But as soon as he claims his son and goes over to the good, he takes off his mask and he is white. Yes, I have many, many feelings about that, but I will try to put them over here,” she concluded.
Leave it to an MSNBC host to turn a touching father-son Star Wars moment into a race-baiting fiasco.
She's just insane.
