Palestinian human rights advocate says world ignores PA corruption

Igal HechtIsrael Correspondent

I recently sat down in Jerusalem with Bassem Eid, one of the top Palestinian human rights advocates.

Bassem began his career with Israeli organization, B’Tselem, documenting offenses committed by the Israeli army but in 1996, he resigned in order to create a Palestinian organization that would focus on the Palestinian Authority when he saw how little trust the Palestinians had in their own leadership.

He provides many examples for why that is and says that despite billions in international aid sent over the past 20 years, the Palestinian people have little to show for it.

He also offers his unique perspective on what all those involved, including Israel, should do.

Don't miss Part 2 of the interview with Bassem on the role the media plays in portraying Israel.

If by “the world” you mean the UN, well, a corrupt unaccountable bureaucracy is acting according to its nature. People who inform themselves with info from beyond the corporate media spin have been aware of PA self serving propaganda for some time – no side in a war is blameless, Israel is not a ruthless aggressor and PA is not a hapless victim.

Mark Vandermaas a Canadian UN peacemaker was in Egypt in 1972. He fully supports Israel. Palestinians are masters at propaganda staging fake videos to get us to sympathise with them.
Egypt is flooding the Palestinian tunnels used to smuggle goods and weapons into Gaza. There are videos of luxury cars driving on Gaza roads. Gaza mall is stocked with food Ad goods from all over the world. Dolphin water park for kids to play.
We are sold a bill of goods about poverty.

Nothing new here. The UN system is designed to keep the Palestinians in their place and at the same time provide millions to those in power. Corruption reigns supreme in the UN and corruption reigns supreme in the Palestinian organization. Saw it first hand when I lived and worked there.

Of course the entitled canucklheads that would cry wolf over this only read the headlines of the lefty orgs – if they were to go and see for themselves they might be very surprised.

One examples of how it works.

Palestinian applies for status in Canada – comes to Canada – becomes a citizen. Returns to Israel and goes back to the Palestinian Territory – applies for refugee status – gets it.

So what you have is a person who was a refugee – comes to Canada becomes a citizen – returns to the middle east and becomes a refugee.

Collecting UN money and Canadian health benefits.

Happens all the time. I met lots of them.

Suha Arafat, Yasser’s widow, lives in a huge penthouse of the Champs in Paris.
She lives a life of luxury, befitting a Saudi monarch.
All on the expense of YOU the foolish Canadian taxpayer, via our support for the Palestinians and worldwide aid to the corrupt Palestinians.
Israeli retired politicians , live out their lives in meagre surroundings in Israel.
Now, where do you really want to support?

Countries should be looking at how their foreign aid is spent

It looks like the Palestinian war against Israel is being funded by international foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority. It is just great what bureaucrats can do with our tax dollars.

All states are corrupt. Big or small. Just have a close look at the internal workings of a local government or say a reserve….

This has been happening for ages. This is Arab culture. This predates Arafat, and he died with multi, multi millions in personal wealth. Read the books “State of Failure”, and “Son of Hamas.”
