A Christian man is on the run and facing blasphemy charges for insulting Islam with a poem on WhatsApp.

According to Associated Press, Nadeem James Masih sent his Muslim friend a controversial poem on WhatsApp.

Local police official Mohammad Asim said police are guarding a church to avoid violence.

Under Pakistan's blasphemy laws, anyone accused of insulting Islam can be sentenced to death. The laws are, however, often misused to settle personal scores.

It's clear that Pakistan doesn't have its priorities in order.
