Preston Manning wisely skipped his Centre's Alberta election night party -- but guess where he's speaking tonight

Rebel Staff

On the evening of the Alberta election, Preston Manning was supposed to be one of the speakers at an election night party at his Manning Centre but he failed to show his face.

That's probably just as well.

Manning, you'll remember, had helped Danielle Smith decide to defect from the Wildrose Party to the PCs -- which set off a chain of events that ended with the NDP's historic majority.

But wait until you find out where Manning is speaking tonight.

All I can say is:

His new friends can have him!

Pre-Senile Dementia – just like Ralph Klein suffered from. Don’t worry Presto – it won’t hurts abit – and you meet so many new and interesting people!

Yup, I’m going along with you on this one, MAURICE POTVIN. I took a class of college kids to meet him about 15 years ago when he was leader of the opposition. They were utterly impressed with his candour and sincerity and you could just tell that he thoroughly enjoyed the interaction. I agree with you that it is highly unlikely that his drift had anything to do with a pay-off. Some guys go out and buy a sports car. ..some go dippy in other ways.

One rotten apple spoils the barrel, I wonder what in his personal life he is being coerced (bribed) with after all this is the tactic used since beginning of time. He’s now just another UN Agenda 21er.

I was telling people 15 years ago that both Preston Manning and Link Byfield were working against the interests of Albertans. I don’t know what the agenda was, I just witnessed plenty of evidence that they had one. I wasn’t surprised in the slightest when Preston engineered the destruction of the Wild Rose Party.

I, for one, don’t question Preston Manning’s sincerity. I don’t have any hard evidence that this change in his core values is for financial gain, or power or anything nefarious. It may be simply a late-life “epiphany”, some kind of revelation he received in an altered state of consciousness, but whatever it is, it’s sure weird!

Indeed. Follow the money. It would be interesting to find out how much money Preston is raking in on account of his treachery. I further wonder if the full amount, perks and otherwise is fully reported as income to the CRA.

I am amazed at the odd change in Mr. Manning. He used to be the outspoken leader for freedom in this country and Province. For all the good he has done thanks but… what is this going on now? Alberta is in for a huge change. Freeing Omar Khdr? Electing socialist anti-oil anti-coal bigots to government? Seems to me Prentice came here to destroy the PC/Wildrose and then just up and leave – what the deuce? Criminal if you ask me.

One thing is certain the PC as it stands is done. They need to dissolve and re-brand. The first order of business would be getting rid of the Progressive ideology and remove Progressive from the name. Look up “Progressive” on DuckDuckGo or Google and find out what that actually means… then you will understand Redford and clan. We need more Link Byfields to bring Alberta back.

Alberta will be all right. They’ve got Wild Rose in the opposition.

The same can’t be said for Manning. Canadians think poorly of turn coats, even if Manning’s coat always was pied died.

Manning seems to have lived in his own limited little world much of his life.

I’ve met Preston Manning on a few occasions and was even fortunate enough to be seated next to him at a dinner in Nova Scotia 20 years ago. He was always fiercely independent and not as tied down to conservative dogma as you might think. He has always been a populist first, which explains a lot of positions and policies people would not otherwise have expected from him.

He changed the face of Canada’s political landscape for the better, much to the chagrin of many leftists, No one understands better than Manning that sometimes old orthodoxies and institutions must be torn down for new ones to blossom – but that world view can also have disastrous consequences, and it seems the elder statesman has morphed into a backroom political power broker.

I wonder if Preston will be speaking at the AB PC’s leaders dinner on May 14/15. That would be an interesting speech if he is.

Thanks Ezra. Keep it up. Amazing the amount of dirt just laying around.

Jesus help us, Alberta, you have NO idea the hurt you’ve brought onto yourselves….I’m in Ont, need I say more?? What the hell happened to Manning…does he have a brain tumour??

Again I’m the first to comment on this article. It is most important to have an opposition to the newly elected N.D.P. government , They are neophytes at governing, their ministers lack experience at running a business or commanding people. The same can be said for the Wild Rose Party Loyal opposition, Alberta is facing great financial problems and we need a watch dog press unfortunately the Alberta press is not up to the job. The media party is no better at being a watch dog as they are controlled by the " un-progressive" socialists. The only voice that conservative Albertans have is the soon to begin THEREBEL.MEDIA
Sset up of an Alberta office. They need your help to raise $50,000 so far they have raised over half $25,000. So like we did with the original Rebel please contribute like I did from my pay pal account. If we can find 500 people to contribute $50.00 we’re there and then we’ll get the real news from Alberta and keep those " public servants " to bear.

Congratulations Mr. Manning, you’ve graduated from respected politician to $2 street walker (gender neutral term.)

Shows you what an idiot Danielle Smith was to be bamboozled by the guy with a lamebrain idea which resulted in disaster. Maybe the PC’s just dont do it right provincially. Look at the track record:
BC- A rumour and a joke
AB- Enough said
ON- Should have dumped Hudak many elections ago. Cant spot someone who is unelectable
PQ- Huh??

I think old Preston got struck by the Saul-to-Paul kind of blinding light that – according to the United Church of Canada – should afflict all good little Christians and turn us into Elizabeth Mays. I think the bastard’s gone dippy.

Follow the money, Preston! No respect for the sellout he is. And the fact he skipped out on election night just makes him a coward.

Is Preston problem dementia or just plain senility
